Is Jim Nill a cap genius or moron?

Dallas has spent to the cap every year since Tom Gaglardi bought the team and will continue to spend to the cap every year. $100M, $110M, $120M, $130M doesn't matter. This is one of the most sound and well run franchises in the entire league.
Right its not about spending to the cap. Its only having $19M for 10 roster spots that is concerning i n26-27 as it stands now. Obviously like many have said, ship Robo out and boom, flexibility.

More curious if that is the concensus. Obviously ideally he is re-signed.

If they win, none of this will matter. But I could see Seguin LTIRetiring, he's been injured 3-4 seasons in a row now? He showed this year that he can still play when healthy, but who knows if he can stay healthy anymore

Where is this 19m for 10 roster spots coming from?

Right now it's 35m in space for 26-27
Even if they give Robertson 11ish mill, and Harley 8.5, in 26-27 years, they'd still have 15.5m in space.
to fill out what amounts to a 4th line and a 6 and 7th d-man.

Bourque being a bit of a wild card on how long his bridge deal is and how much it'll be.
Next year is the only real pain point to get through, and even that, is easy to navigate if they get out of Dumba

1. Rantanen - $12
2. Seguin - $9.85
3. Hesikanen - $8.45
4. Hintz - $8.45
5. Johnston - $8.4
6. Ottinger - $8.25
7. Lindell - $5.25
8. Lyubushkin - $3.25
9. Steel - $2.1
10. Desmith - $1.0
11. Back - $.825
12. Bichsel - $.918
Total - 68.743

Obviously bottom three are whatever, but listed them anyways. Assuming Robo $11 and Harley $8.5, then total jumps to $88.243 for 14 players. Cap in 26-27 is $104, so $15.757 for 9 roster spots. Obviusly trades wil lhappen so curious who, but assuming that all, it doesnt really leave room for you sweetheart Benn/Duchene type deals.

I think Harley is worth more.
Guy looked like a stud on Canada.

Yah I would honestly start thinking about 11-12 million for Harley. He Just keeps getting better.

At least on a normal team. Tax free teams that are winning do tend to get significant discounts but I can't seem him coming in at 8 still.

Dallas may be wise to go hard on an extension this summer.

He's been great. But, a little bit of luck helps too. He was fortunate to be saved from a massive blunder that many people forget. There was a 7x8 contract on the table for Klingberg that his agent convinced him to turn down right before he fell off a cliff. That would be a top 5 worst contract in the league had he signed it.

As they say, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. But yeah, overall pretty solid.

He might know something about Seguins injury that may allow for them to ltiretire him but I hope not. But even if they have to move a guy out like say Marchment in order to resign Harley they won’t have to pay draft picks because the cap has gone up so much. I think the Seth Jones trade proved that the days of paying to get rid of a guy like what Detroit did last offseason with Walman are over for now. They also would’ve had to re sign Stankoven
Let’s just establish, we in no way had to use a 2nd to trade Walman, we could have easily got positive assets for him. Yzerman was just off the juice that day, and made a horrible trade.
