As long as the cap doesn't suddenly stagnate or fall, it's genius. This is just basic cap economics - in a rising cap, fixed cap hits are invaluable.
Sometimes a player signs a cheaper 1 year deal. Why would Harley agree to a 1 year deal and wait to get paid after?
I’ll just wait until OP finds out about the rising cap…
Indeed. Appears Dallas is timing this success well. He's doing great, but with the cap increases coming, pretty much anybody that locked in their core players for 8 x ~$8M deals over the last few years looks like a cap genius.
Lol knew you weren't clairvoyant
You gotta take enough term when you get the first crack at it to secure the life changing bag.Why would Harley agree to a 1 year deal and wait to get paid after?
The point is he cant...If I was a Dallas fan my logic would be if he can fit the players in why not. Ain’t my money. They are going to be a contender for a long time because he has big balls.
I’m sure the the right guy to move will be known by then. He can fit them all now though so who cares. Deal with that when he needs too.The point is he cant...
In 26-27 he will have 19M to spend on 10 roster spots. That is assuming Harley gets $8 and Robertson gets $9, which I'm sure a lot of us will argue is the bare minimum for those two.
Sooooo someone(s) are going to have to be moved. They may get lucky and its Seguin retiring, but if not, that is all ELC, bare minumum deals that obviously will hurt their current depth tremendously.
Back to the bruins calling it nowPossibly they could just trade Seguin
Cap is going up.Why would Harley agree to a 1 year deal and wait to get paid after?
That’s what I’d be thinking, especially if I were a family man or planned that in my future. You want that financial security. An injury could derail or end your career. In that sense, I think it more likely a player give a hometown discount if they feel a sense of loyalty to the club. You gotta take enough term when you get the first crack at it to secure the life changing bag.
Locking up very good players long term to team friendly deals? Idiot.
