So with todays results, the Kings can finish as high as 7th by going 0-3-0, CGY needs 2 points and VAN needs 6 out of a possible 14 points.

Of note, CGY plays VAN 4 times, so one of those things is almost certainly gonna happen.

7th would be nice, good chance something decent falls to there this season.

Was just going to post this. A guy like Brandt Clarke might be available at 7, which would be huge for this franchise. I wish we were able to get Power or Hughes, but Clarke could become a top pairing RHD. Other options at 7 might be Guenther, Eklund, or Johnson.

Conversely, the most points we can finish the season with is 54. In theory Calgary and Vancouver could still finish above us, but I doubt it. If we win out, we're likely picking in the 10-12 range. That's more like Lucius/Sillinger/MacTavish.

There's a real lack of defensive talent in this draft. We may see some reaches for defensemen in the middle or late first round. After Power, Hughes, Edvinsson, and Clarke, you have Lambos and Ceulemans somewhere in the middle of the draft and Svozil and Chayka towards the end. You also have two projected first round goalies in Wallstedt and Cossa. In my ideal scenario, we somehow land Clarke in the first round and Cossa in the second, but that's likely a pipe dream.

I think Clarke showing at the U18 touney and his play in a mens league this season notched him a few spots higher in the draft. He's probably top 5 now.

Too much worrying about this -- told you we are winning the draft lottery this year. Biggest worry is which player to select. That will make last years Stuzle/Byfield thread argument seem like child's play

You gotta take Power for the name alone

Whatever Blake and staff do, it needs to be decisive and aggressive. I’d love to see them make a move for 1 of the top defenseman because they are so tough to get outside of the draft.

Even if we draft Power, we need D men now, not in 3-4 years. Still feel like Hamilton is a huge add if we can sign him. Move Roy to #6. Walker + can get us a nice LD as well.

With Chicago going to OT, the Kings will be assured of no worse than 12th in the lottery.

With tonight's OTL, they officially clinch no worse than 11th, they kinda already did because it was AZ, but they secured better odds, you get it.

I'm huge on signing Dougie as a now-and-later move that also turns our RHDs into trade chips.

Just wonder if the Kings signed Hamilton and he was paired with Mikey Anderson (Bjornfot moves up to pair with Drew) and it would be Mikey and Dougie.
Maybe that would be ill, as in the bad kind of ill and one or both would go for Mike / Michael ... Doug / Douglas. Honestly, would be a great addition.

As far as the draft, kind of bummed the Kings are moving further from getting one of the top 4 D in the draft. Maybe Chaz Lucius would be a good target,
7-10. He's been rising. He could possibly even push one of those 4 D down a spot. ?

I just want to sign Dougie so Kate Upton does the Dougie on the Jumbotron at Staples.

Clarke would be our Voynov replacement who likes to jump up into the play.

Question is if Brandt likes a pat on his head for good luck as well...

With last nights results, the lowest the Kings will draft is 11th. So anywhere from 7th to 11th. I see a break in talent at 9. (Beniers, Clarke, Edvinsson, Eklund, Guenther, Hughes, Johnson, Power, and Wallstedt (agree with the My NHL Draft guy). Would be a plus if they ended up at 9th overall.

While I agree there is a mini break after 8 or 9... I'd easily say Lucius, Lysell, Sillinger, Lambos, and Cossa can be as good or better than any forward, defender, or goalie who goes earlier. McTavish looks like a safe bet to be a good player too. I have been pumping Lucius since before the season and would be ecstatic if we got him. Lysell arguably is the most skilled player this draft and would be a nice add. I take Cossa over Wallstedt personally and seen two official rankings that have that too now.

No one should be upset. It would be nice if we got 7th yet even at 11th I truly like our options and choices. If there was a recent draft to be in the blackhole it is this one.

As you mention about Lucius, he is having a good year, with 26 goals in 25 us national team games. The one player in my top 9 that I would pass on is Edvinsson. He gives me Derek Forbort vibes, though I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about, hehe.

I dunno about that one. I watched the recent U-18 and he looked the part of a Top-5 pick. I think he is going to be very good. Much better skater than Forbort and I think he only gets better in that department.

I know most people are not a fan of Button. FWIW, here is his list.

Monahan is shut down though
