Josefson was playing like 15-16 minutes a game under Lemaire at the end of '10-11, he wasn't sheltered by any stretch.

Well it's still early to call Matteau stunted. He went backwards a bit, but he was way rushed to begin with. He's now at the level he should be at. If he was never in the NHL last year people wouldn't be complaining about him now.

I'm not complaining about him. I like Matteau. They were your examples, not mine.

Ask yourself this: do you think Lou can put aside the way he has seemingly operated for two decades and do the following. Sell jagr, sell zidlicky, sell fayne, maybe even sell Salvador, zubrus, Ryder, look into moving guys like zajac for lesser pieces in order to open up flexibility moving forward.

Basically, do you think Lou is willing to start over fresh, because as much as I know we all hate the selling, tanking mentality, it is clear at this point that the salvation isn't coming from free agency, we need impact forwards and the only way to get them is in the draft.

There are pieces here. We all love our d prospects and expect to get practically a full lineup out of them, Schneider can carry us if we can get him re-signed, and between henrique, loktionov, josefson, brunner, and even guys like matteau and Boucher we have a good number of youngish support players, and guys like carter, bernier, etc to take care of bottom line minutes, but we have no true top liners besides Elias and we don't have the means to acquire any besides through the draft. Unless a legit first line center that was born in nj suddenly hits free agency, I just don't see any other way. If Lou isn't willing to do everything he can to get a blue chip forward prospect (and stockpiling picks seems to me to be the best way to do that) then we need to move on from Lou. It has nothing to do with what Lou has done in the past, only what he can and can't do for us now

and him and Tedenby were producing.

I wasn't talking about Tedenby. Josefson was actually better than Tedenby offensively the last several weeks. Teddy really did not score a lot, people just remember the one fluke two-goal game, and he didn't score a point in the next twelve games after that btw. But you're like a dog with a bone with your favorites (Tedenby/Zajac), can't resist interjecting them in.

If Kyle Palmeri was from Vermont, people wouldn't be talking about him.

But he played in our backyard. Shame on our scouts and Conte for passing him and Carlson up in consecutive seasons.

You make it sound like Palmeri's Corey Perry. He's a nice complementary player, but come on - he's got 34 points in 83 NHL games. I'm sure we passed up better players besides Palmeri.

Tedenby scored at a 30+ point pace as a 20 year old rookie and was a +3

but yea, he didn't produce. sure.

Even the ones born here were flyers fans and hate it here.

Hell look at Bobby Ryan.

Great post. And I agree.

Ouch. He played for the Devils Youth team too. Conte screwed up with that decision.

See, these are the dumb ****ing misconceptions that drive me nuts. So incredibly easy to look back in hindsight and blame Conte.

How quickly forget that Josefson was regarded as a top 3 Euro and was a top 10-15 pick on some team's boards. Palmieri was barely in the top 20 NA skaters.

But one player pans out, one doesn't, and it's Conte's fault.

I seriously can't wait for HF 2016 to talk about how dumb Conte and Lou were for drafting Larsson over Brodin.

Tedenby's best stretch actually came under MacLean right after he debuted in the league. I distinctly remember him going I think it was a month without a point. That was after his 2 goal game against the Hurricanes with Lemaire.

Fanhood aside, most hockey fans would prefer Brodin over Larsson by watching both play.
I would for sure.

But,i still expect Adam to improve than what we have seen thus far, which is not much.

literally everywhere had Larsson as a top 3 pick.

you cannot use hindsight to make these choices.

Lou Conte should stop paying attention to conventional opinions of scouting services and do more homework on these draft eligible prospects-especially in Europe.

Yeah I want to wait on MyToe as well.

Him getting 17 games with the Main Team may have given him a swelled-head a bit.

Let's hope he is much better prepared to be a POSITIVE on the ice instead of a PIM machine.

8 goals in 58 games, and he never scored at any other level of professional hockey. You need Tedenby to actually produce offensively because he just doesn't do anything else. He just never has been a big offensive player at all since being drafted.

he hasn't been given a consistent chance either aside from that one year, and he produced. points are points.
