There is no human who would be acceptable as Bruins GM or President

No matter who gets the job within 1 year they will be despised

Sure get rid of Sweeney - why not

An acceptable guy does not exist

Neely next to Orr was a hockey God more popular than Bergeron but as he gets older and fabs never saw him play he’s just a boob

Bergeron will age be 60 and a whole new generation will not have seen him play or barley and give 2 shits about him

This magical next guy to do everything right doesn’t exist but in your minds
We don’t expect a magical person who will do everything right but these two, particularly Sweeny, have done very poorly. Their being former players is not really relevant either way. Cam was a godlike player; Sweeney above average but not a god; either or both could’ve been great executives (or not). The only thing that’s clear (to me) in retrospect is that they’ve not done well in their respective roles.

They need to be split.

Scouting amateur and pro has been below average to awful the last 15 years. 2015 as much as we want it to stop, set this franchise back, quite a bit. The revisionist history is just too strong.
Connor, Aho, Konecny, Chabot, Barzal, Boeser, Hintze, the hits go on and on. The 1st 2 rounds are historical for fulltime NHL'rs. Jake is decent due to his inconsistencies; Carlo is legit and now Lauzon seems to have found his ground as a full timer. But to have 2 1st round misses of that magnitude in that draft, just shows how bad our evaluation of talent has been

What does he even do?

PR? Face of the franchise?

Won’t appear on the highest rated afternoon drive radio show on the club’s flagship station.
I think he does more than I thought he did.

As noted elsewhere, it was Cam who directed Sweeney to turf Cassidy, according to the Herald's Steve Conroy.

If you recall, Sweeney initially told Butch it was business as usual.

I don't know for certain - perhaps someone here does? - but I suspect Neely was also behind canning Claude.

I believe Cam more or less left player personnel and drafting to Sweeney and his staff, save agitating for big bodies that didn't work out.

That is, Neely issued a general edict. Sweeney whiffed.

They made the correct decision in dismissing Montgomery and giving the interim gig to Sacco who will, I believe, right the ship in the short term.

Other than that, it's time for both to be shown the door.

Pretty strong to say that a draft from nearly 10 years ago set this franchise back "quite a bit"

Since 2015...

- 1st in points
- Two President Trophy wins
- NHL record breaking season
- SCF run

That to me doesn't scream a franchise that's been set back. They've been strong contenders in almost every season. Let 2015 go already, it's done and gone.

agree to disagree. no pipeline of top end talent. Any those guys would be 28 YO in their prime and we would not be talking about how incomplete this roster is.
80% of my list cures the scoring issues this team has had since last year.

All your accolades were due to having guys over 30, Bergy, Rask, Krecji, Chara driving the leadership bus
