Management Is it time for Delaware North to give the Golden Parachute to Cam Neely?

I would support a total rebuild but only if the present management is replaced by outside hockey people. I do not trust present management to successfully pull off a total rebuild. The only exceptions would be Bob Essensa & Evan Gold, Essensa for sure because the guy is magic in developing & re-building goaltenders.

Essensa, Gold and McQuaid I'd keep. The rest, good riddance.

I was never a fan of Neely being President. My worry was he would react too hastily based on emotion.

Was never a fan of Sweeney becoming GM. I thought his strength was in the player development department and probably still is.

Everyone has a different definition for a rebuild, but in a rebuild you sell every asset you have. I don't think we see that day, at least not in the foreseeable future.

But if one were to happen, I don't want either leading the charge.

And I will take it a step further:

I don't want Charlie Jacobs being the guy who hires the next person to lead the charge. Maybe Harry Sinden as the special advisor helps pick the next candidate. I don't want that either.

Cam and Sweeney need to be gone by seasons end. Let new management pick the new coach and direction.
I have my doubts that Sweeney and Neely will be gone even if they miss the playoffs, but this is a good point why they should be gone. A new GM and President would want to pick their own coach. If Sweeney and Neely are allowed to make yet another hire and then they get canned in a year or two, it would be very awkward for whoever the coach is, as well as the new GM and President.

Same, I wouldn't put money on it even if they do not qualify. I think they'd have to miss this year and next year at minimum to put their jobs in jeopardy.

That's a lot of don't wants.

How about who you do want? Are there any rebuild experts out there?

Personally, what I don't want is a rebuild by your definition.

Will never happen, but I'd love for them to take on this sort of thought process. Why limit yourself to "hockey guys" as Team President. Why not broaden your horizons and hire strong leader and executive from another pro sport. Or even outside of sports altogether? Leadership is leadership, people can learn, you Team Pres doesn't need to know all the nuances of professional hockey.

‘We’re not worrying about his basketball expertise; we’re worrying about his organizational structure expertise,'”

The NHL would probably be a lot further ahead if it choose more strong business leaders as Team Presidents instead of asking a guy to run a multi-million/billion dollar operation because he scored a lot of goals and assists in the NHL.

Neely's statement made Swayman's camp look bad. It led to Swayman giving in, not the other way around.

And what would be the situation if Swayman was still holding out because Sweeney didn't sign him?

60 is the new 40.
Nope as a GM or President you never announce that stuff to the media. Was a seriously bad look for this organization.

I can think of 64 million reasons why this team looks disjointed and off page.

Thanks for sharing.
Just like the players on the ice the best management situation is when people are in roles they are best suited.

Sorry (not sorry) but you are wrong. Cam's calling this out was brilliant and lead to ending the hold out. 60 isn't THAT old.

and now we currently have a 8.x million cap hit 1a/1b goalie. would've rather them kept it quiet and made Swayman hold out until dec. 1.

Bruins held all the cards in the negotiation, all they had to do was wait. The only one who was really losing anything was Swayman. Loses a year of salary, and a year of development/play, further decreasing his value.

It's past time for both of them to go.

I expect the Bruins to make the playoffs under Sacco and his defense first, simplified system.

If they somehow don't, those two will be called on the carpet & perhaps dismissed at last.

Even if Boston make the playoffs, a staleness has set in.

Sweeney and Neely have given all they are able to give.

I am heartily sick of both, for different reasons.

The question then becomes what next, and who.

Speculation welcome,

❓ 👀

25 % increase in goaltending against the cap over the previous year, enough said.

So, I guess setting up and running (for years) The Neely House counts for nothing?

Cameron M. Neely

President

The Cam Neely Foundation

This thread is f***ing hilarious - holy ignoranous, Batman, on this guy

Anyways Neely had his Comics come home - he’s had some of best comedians over the years

Raised over 13 M dollars to help families lodging etc for children

As for hockey

Dude was best power forward I’ve seen since 67

His philosophy is - win on scoreboard and physically

To say he doesn’t know shit is ridiculous

Bruins fan ‘OMG, Cccccam said about Swayman 64 M reasons …..’

Oh the travesty, you would think they were on the ground below as the Hindenburg exploded

#TeamNeely

What tools does he have that translates to being a strong AGM candidate?
He looks dreamy with aviator glasses and top two buttons undone
