Is it still possible to draft someone like Datsyuk or Kaprizov in late rounds?

Technically yes, practically no. Just because of the current political climate with Russia.

You might hit on a guy playing high school hockey or dominating prep-hockey or something but teams have learned that the draft is fairly predictable. Every once in a while you'll get a player who falls to the second round for completely inexplicable reasons but that's about as far as it will go.

We were celebrating the fact that we snatched what could turn out to be the second best player in the draft, maybe even the best, I don't remember no chants of the sort

The only way a player like that is going to last until the 5th, 6th or 7th round is if he has at least one major flaw.

Mark Stone was a hopelessly bad skater. Cam Atkinson and Jon Marchessault were laughably small.

Do you really think the issues/concerns with Russia is due to intolerance with their culture?

I won't address the "one of the most accepting countr(ies) on Earth regarding multiculturalism" statement as I don't want to start a fight. But it's not due to being anti-Russian.

Yes.

But it will come from the success and growth of the Olympics. The next Datsyuk and Kaprizov likely won't come from Russia. Not that Russia isn't producing great players (they are) but Because even the worst divisions in the mhl are scouted decently. It will come from a lesser nation that no one's paying much attention to and it will be some freak of nature in a lesser coached system. We've seen some pure athletes get drafted out of the u18A championships (Clara in net), and I think it's plausible we could see someone pop up in that from a non traditional hockey team like a Ukraine, Denmark, Poland, Belarus, Italy etc. Even an Asian country. Scouting isn't perfect. And scouts are going to miss. Look how many prospects get taken in their D2 D3 seasons.

Hasek has literally said that no Russian, including Russians that have spoken out against Putin, should be allowed in the NHL.

... That kinda defeats the "Nobody has a problem with Russian players" argument.

Like I said, we don't care where our players come from in Montréal (we would prefer Québécois, but eh, as long as they are good, we don't mind)

But then, we saw of Rottenberg kind of bullied him in his last year in the KHL. This right here, is the part we don't like.

As I said earlier, Demidov is already a superstar in Montréal, and if he's as good as advertise, he'll be elevated to demi-god statue here

The problem here is your use of the word "Nobody".

You literally said nobody has a problem with Russian players. This man threw a hissy fit over Ovechkin breaking Gretzky's record.
