Post-Game Talk: Is it a cruel irony that PDO was created by an Oilers fan?

Skinner has got to be the most Jekyll and Hyde goalie in the league. When he’s good he’s great but when he’s bad he doesn’t look like he belongs in the league.

Also it’s been 7.5 periods since we’ve scored a goal without Draisaitl’s direct involvement. We’re spending too much on forwards to be a two man team.

We're one point out of first. Take a step away from the ledge my friend.

I guess his point might be that we had a chance to take the reins and once again failed to do so.

The way VGK is playing they could rattle off 3, 4, 5 in a row after this and if we don’t keep pace we could easily be 4-6 points out of 1st which is a much larger difference to overcome.

Depth scoring is a problem? You don't say...

Maybe another worthless waiver wire claim will do the trick.

Power Outage

Game lost on a brutal PP and team penalties essentially special teams with no stops at their end and breakdowns costly. Nugent Hopkins was terrible on the PP and with 5 turnovers on the night. They have to ban the soft back pass off the boards which gives penalty killers ability to close on the point option and choke zone outs. Bouchard's play was slow and his shot off on the PP. Someone get Polzkolzen an ice bag - he took alot of friendly fire. Didn't think Hyman was particularly effective tonight.

Capitals basically had the Bizarro Skinner in net with a big, athletic and flexible presence in the net. Thompson was the difference in the game even with a lot of rebound stuff hanging around his saves.

Big stretch of games here with opportunity to push division lead. Left one in the bag tonight. Have to bank some home W's without their captain.

Guys stop hating on him I just found out he has a league average save percentage on a stanley cup contending team that has top 10 defensive metrics

I guess our collective eyes and understanding of every other goaltending statistic is wrong to think he is below average

Forget it, we're locking ourselves into another series with the Kings. It's not happening. This team blows chunks offensively without McDavid. Not even worth watching.

OV didn't score any goals tonight because he figured with Skinner in net it wouldn't even be fair. Might be another asterisk if he scored a hattie. meh. OV was pretty terrible in this game but so was his entire first line and first unit PP.

Not a great game by the Caps at all but they didn't need it with Skinner in net.

If he was below average it might not be a problem with how good we are otherwise.

Vegas is on a four game losing streak so I don't know what would make someone think they are about to go on a heater.

By that logic we could assume Skinner is about to go on a heater as well ;)

I guess the 20buck Nachos weren't any good either. What kind of asshat throws that on the ice during play? Embarrassing from an Edmonton fan standpoint. You'd expect this kind of thing from somebody thats lived in a dark cave all their life raised by baboons.

Whoever that was hope they were thrown out promptly. Imagine even if a goal or chance got called back on the basis. Still something you should never do.
Or worse, a player steps in it and gets injured. Drai was in the ice there. Just what we would have needed.

Doesn't really mean anything if you don't /60 it and set a minimum amount of GP.

Amongst goalies who have played at least 10 games he is 35/63 in GA/60. Like I said, he's average.
10 games eh, that’s quite the sample. The guy sucks, deal with it.

Yet another year where the Oilers get the absolute least out of players not named McDavid or Draisaitl. Too many years of playing the 'pass the puck to McDrai' game has caused the bottom 6 to be completely anemic. Somewhat a personnel issue, but there is something much more pervasive going on. I'd wager it's usage and deployment, but I don't have the time nor effort to look into it more.

Enough players have come here, underperformed, then gone back to normal after leaving that it is not a coincidence.
