Is height exaggerated leaguewide?

These two guys are both listed at 6'6"

They look related lol

When did Markstrom go Super Saiyan?

This reminds me of when a post-game team photo of the Rangers surfaced and this gigantic, absolutely ripped, blonde dude was standing next to Zuccarello. Nobody had ever seen him before. We came to the conclusion that it was Kreider's corsi.

Dustin Penner must have the record. On his draft year he was passed over for being too small at 5-8. Then he player in the NHL at 6-4. That is one heck of a growth spurt.

I recently had a chance to meet some players and it seemed like they were all shorter than me. This got me thinking, is height exaggerated league-wide? And I don't just mean for small guys like Gaudreau as it seemed like almost every player I met was a solid 2 inches shorter than listed. I'm 6'1 so I'm not what I'd call tall, but I was taller than pretty much every player I've met (and they were all listed as being 6'0-6'1). The only taller guy I've run into is Pavel Zacha (who is listed as 6'3 and is the exact same height as me).

As a followup, I assume weight is also exaggerated or just taken when fully dressed with pads, etc. There's no way a guy like Hall (who is listed as 6'1, 205lbs) actually weights that. He looked more like he was 5'11 and 180/185 lbs.
The athletic and physical ability of almost all professional athletes are exaggerated

I bumped into Jarkko Ruutu in the airport about ten years ago and he definitely seemed like a 185 cm tall guy. but i think his weight probably was exaggerated, since he almost fell on his back when he bumped to me. He looked rather slim guy to be in a very good shape. nowhere near 100kg.

I know for a fact that Laine suddenly grew 2 inches when he entered the NHL. He isn't 6'5.

That being said, Wheeler is probably also under 6'5.

I was really surprised to see maf listed at 6'2" 180.

Never stood next to the guy but I can't imagine him being over 6', or 165 pounds.

It's gotten to the point where you have to exaggerate because if you don't, then people will assume a person listed at 5'8" is actually 5'6" even if they actually are 5'8"

Its really annoying. They start this bs in junior and it just continues. Some guys are getting 2+ inches and 20 lbs tacked on.

It’s just your mind playing tricks on some of ya. I was skating around with Jared McCann one time dude is at least 6 ft 1.

Jordan Schroeder was listed as 5’9.5 shortly after making the Canucks I’m glad they adjusted his height to the real 5’7. Met Daniel sedin once he is for sure 6’1. Matt Cooke looked kinda small. Met Luongo and Kessler both guys are huge.

I do think believe players height is not what it seems.

Yes, but I believe a guy like Hall weights more than 180. He's pretty muscular, and his legs are like tree trunks.

Oh this thread again.

There's so many "I've stood next to this guy one time and I was definitely taller than him!" stories out there.

Keep in mind I have stood next to people I thought I was taller than (I'm 6'4'' so I'm used to that)... until they stood up fully straight and I realized they were actually like 6'5'' or 6'6''. It's weird but it happens.

That said, of course some are exaggerated.
