Is Debrincat next?

And if we’re not winning he’s an overpaid 13 mill dollar 65 pt center

You’re right about the talent part. Paying that much for 60 pt forward is not a solution though
It's not an ideal solution - however right now Yzerman needs to maximize his return for DBoss and Hischier might be 1 of a few who would be willing to sign long term with Detroit.

Meh wouldn’t do anything for me

Was thinkingggg

Bigger deal with Dallas who also need a righty dman and have cap issues

Larkin + asp + for Robertson and hintz

Dallas would have cap room to sign Bourque, chase a Mcmann etc..

Then we make a trade for mctavish

Top 3 lines

Robertson hintz Raymond
Debrincat mctavish Kane
Finnie kasper nygard

C'mon guy, not only is that completely crazy from a Stars perspective... they have money coming off the books after this season, 19 players signed this year already, and they actually attract players to come play with them. Robertson for Larkin might be realistic, but Hintz is pie in the sky stuff man, MAYBE if they won a stanley cup already but they're still trying to win. Might as well mention McDavid.

Gotta do some homework before making things up like this. Plus what the heck are you turning around and giving up for McTavish?

If Yzerman trades larkin for market value won't make Detroit worse off, just different. If we can get a return like Jason Robertson then Wings instantly improve. The center position will need to be improved either internally or externally. I'm not ruling out Kasper and Danielson. They could be carried by elite wingers.

Don't forget how good that Cat-Kasper-Kane line was late 2024 and last pre-season. Kasper just needs to hit his stride again. One down year doesn't change that.

I think DBC is likely here until the deadline. He has a 16 team NTC and the ability to basically say I'm not signing in another spot, which limits his value potentially. That I think makes him more attractive asset wise as a rental than probably in this off season.

If he wants to move now I could definitely see it happening, but again if Yzerman doesn't get a great deal for him from a choosen partner I could see him saying I'll wait until the deadline.

I like DBC a lot so if he wants to stay I'm game. He and Seider are the two guys that I've felt have elevated their play as the season moves on.

Losing Kane isn’t a big deal to me

It should be. But not because of the player, but because of what Kane choosing Detroit symbolized. Fans actively rejecting Detroit more than they're doing now is a scenario that is almost impossible to get yourself out of because it would require all of the Yzerman GM stink to get off this team and we know how long that can take.

He’s not part of the long term future. I think we might be better off longterm letting nygard play top 6 minutes over Kane

Kane choosing Detroit didn’t symbolize anything to me . He just wanted to play with debrincat that’s it. If debrincat went to another team he’d follow

This is where I think getting a good feel for if DBC wants to extend is pretty crucial.

Unfortunately with this team, there's a real possibility that they keep him this summer, are in the playoffs at the TDL next year so they don't trade him, then they collapse in March again and he decides to leave as a UFA.

Debrincat is in a contract year. He'll want to put up another 40 goals to secure himself another big contract. I don't think he'll want to play on a rebuilding team. He was smart to only sign for four years.

When my high salary, mopey co-worker resigns at work, I see that as an opportunity for a larger role and potential growth, change of culture, etc. This is a professional organization and these are professionals.

You guys really think the Red Wings players are all behind closed doors ripping on Yzerman, McLellan, and staff? Many of whom carry an NHL resume’ dating back to before these players were born.

Sure, that may be the case for a few of them, but if true, it’s a Larkin problem. And this news could not have arrived quicker.

If Steve reaches out to the team and says “anyone else?” and a few hands go up.. well, there’s the door.

Another thing I want to add that is getting missed. When elite players (Larks, Cat) demand a trade in a seller’s market, this needs to be seen as an opportunity, not a detriment or impediment to success. This is where your GM needs to play 4D chess and find a way to leverage the circumstance into hope for a brighter future.

If SY fumbles this OPPORTUNITY, I think he’ll see his own way out.
SY has already fumbled other opportunities. You think he’s capable of 4D chess? What if elite players wanting out is a sign Yzerman is the problem?

Not sure but Debrincat would be the signal for a total teardown and restart. One thing is for sure if he moves that would be a heck of a return package.

Going into a lottery with Seider Ed and Raymond. Not terrible actually.

Depends on the return for Larkin tbh.

If you got another equal or almost equal player(s) for Larkin then no. If you only get futures for him, then yes. But not just him Faulk and Copp should be out the door behind him as well and tear it all down.

And deal them over the summer. At that point the goal is to be bad and draft high.
