Is Corey Perry a good luck or bad luck charm?

I don't see how it could be held against Corey Perry that his teams make the finals. Good luck charm for sure. What's next? If Florida loses to Edmonton, their record in the finals will be 1-2, so a 33% winrate. Are Florida then playoff chokers?
There ya go! Yer gettin' infused with the HHOF Boards logic! You are truly part of the Borg now. 😏

Don't forget 1996. That would make them 1-3 in the finals overall if they lose against Edmonton.

Number of Stanley Cup Finals of players from the Ducks 2007 winning team:
Corey Perry 6 (1 cup)
Scott Niedermayer 5 (4 cups)
Chris Kunitz 4 (4 cups)
Chris Pronger 3 (1 cup)
Rob Niedermayer 3 (1 cup)
Teemu Selanne 1 (1 cup)
Ryan Getzlaf 1 (1 cup)

harping on a player for being in top 2 too many times without being in top 1 is such ridiculous logic. What about the 30 teams who aren't even top 2?

These narratives are always so eyerolly. Guy is 40. He can't do everything. He does his part.

I feel like you're taking too seriously a thread that was probably meant to be humorous. :P

Yup. 18 loooooong years ago.

But I block that one out- I is a fan of the Senators. Chris Philips is lucky those grilled cheeses at Big Rig are irresistible.
Eh hes won every trophy/medal you can win basically in hockey. Hes basically 1 of the best winners hockey has ever seen.

Every trophy in OHL from OHL championship, to league mvp, to playoff mvp to memorial cup.

Every international thing you can win... world cup, world championship, u18, u20, olympic gold.

Almost everything you can win in NHL.... Cup, Mvp, Richard.

Hes been robbed for Lady Byng basically every year since he came into the league.

Complete survivor bias, this. Have a look at all of the players sitting at home while Perry is still playing year after year. How riddled must they be with bad luck?

Putting yourself and your team in the SCF that many times means you are more of a winner than most of every player in the league.
Hey I'm not totally serious.

But he is definitely the only player to lose at least 4 SCF with four different teams. Unless there is some obscure player from the 40's.

Obviously this has no impact on the ice. I guess you could say each team he was on was not the better team going in.

2020 Stars were not better than TB
2021 Habs were not better than TB
2022 Bolts were not better than Avs
2024 is more of a toss up maybe

He's a HOFer and has been a very good playoff player.

It is still weird seeing him with Edmonton after being a huge thorn in their side in 2017. I'll never forget the Talbot held pad incident and Perry scoring in OT.

In past 6 seasons....

4 (likely to be 5)times in finals = good luck?
4 losses in finals = bad luck?

Quite an interesting story. Only player I can recall coming close to this is Marian Hossa.

On the winning side Claude Lemuiex won two straight with two different teams.
Can Canucks borrow him so they can make the finals? Maybe even one year? 🤣 It won't matter if we lose the finals but I want to see one more trip to the finals before I die

Good luck...

Gotta be crazy to think that going to the Stanley Cup finals that many times in a row is "bad luck". You know how many teams and fans would love to just get that far once?
Imagine how heart breaking it is to go to the finals 4 years in a row and lose everytime though...

I don’t believe in “luck” per se, but I will say it’s remarkable how Perry has managed to play at such a high level for so long. He must have an insane work ethic.
