Gonna get shit for bumping this but I think this is a legitimate question now.

Calder, Norris, Conn Smythe, Over PPG in his career still now in his D+6.

Don’t know if he places amongst the greatest ever, but he is making a case for the best defenseman of his generation.

He'd likely have 2-3 Norris trophies and a couple 100+ point seasons if it weren't for injuries as well.

No.
Can't have 10 generational talents in one generation.
This simply isn’t true… not if you read this board.

Gretzky and Lemieux co-existing as generational talent is in itself a huge outlier. Generational talents are BIG outliers that come around once in a generation. People don’t understand outlier or generational as terms, or simply choose to redefine the terms to fit their needs.

Sorry all, I was heading towards a rant…

The only comparable for this new wave of defenceman is Hughes.

And I would consider them both to be borderline generational, as they have transformed the puck moving defenceman role.

Makar gets the top spot overall.

I love how on hfboards every good offensive defenseman "transforms" the role.

Bobby Orr did that. Everyone else, not so much.

They didn't transform the puck moving role please stop, Coffey, Leetch, Orr, Karlsson all did it before them both and arguably better they are both very good players but stop the blatant over hype

If he stays healthy, then yes he can be considered generational by the end of his career.

Could be hometown bias because he’s from Calgary.
