Hey there. Sabre fan here. Just wondering what Armia's status is? Is he pretty much done as a useful bottom 6 or 4th line option? Or is he caught up in a #'s / cap situation? Would the Canadians retain some and still move him for nothing or dirt cheap?

I'm guessing that the organization would be happy to trade him with retention for a 4th round draft pick.

He's not done per se. He's a very skilled player, he's just not motivated.

In fairness Armia’s game is built around the board work and playing a down low cycle, he doesn’t do well in system requiring speed. He was excellent fit with Staal and Perry.

He has an NHL skill set and has more to give in the right situation, but his contract is very restrictive in terms of trade options due to the tight cap most teams are working with and the years remaining.

Been playing decent for fourth liner. He makes 3.4million for this season and next. Habs would give him to you. Or We can retain half for a 3rd?

Stay away and this is coming from a fan who actually likes Armia. He is lucky there are idiot GM's willing to pay a 4th liner 14 million dollars.

When people mention that athletes are bums, it’s the guys like Armia they’re referring too.

Ok. Thanks. So best case scenario is a team could get him cheap with 30-50% retention and he could help out doing good board work on the 4th line.

He'd probably do well in the post-season, but you'd have to stomach the money and the inconsistent offence in the reg season. He's a possession monster, good defender, and basically a contending team would make good use of Armia for PKing and just simply eating minutes in the opponent's end to close out a win. He's a role player who is definitely still an NHLer, just hampered but an expensive price tag.

Yes except Hughes won't use his last retention spot for less than a 1st unless no better offer materializes before the trade deadline.

He was awesome in the playoffs on a line with Staal/Perry dominating the cycle down low.

Has not done much since then, but at 50% could be worth it for a team going for it.

I just think Hughes won't retain on Armia because he has only 1 spot of retention left this year AND Armia has 2 y left.

He's stuck in Montreal/Laval until next July at the very least. Then Edmundson is off the book, it frees up a retention spot.
