Is Armia worth acquiring?

He'd probably do well in the post-season, but you'd have to stomach the money and the inconsistent offence in the reg season. He's a possession monster, good defender, and basically a contending team would make good use of Armia for PKing and just simply eating minutes in the opponent's end to close out a win. He's a role player who is definitely still an NHLer, just hampered but an expensive price tag.
Best adult take on what Armia represents, along with DA champion's mention that Armia is not motivated, or difficult to motivate.

Should show up in playoffs when it counts, which is why he might be easier to trade next season when he becomes a pure rental and when we have an extra retention spot left.

If all you want/expect is a 4th liner who plays well defensively and can help the PK then yes Armia is still a worthwhile player. However obviously his contract is a stumbling block in that regards.

In terms of us using our last retention spot, I have my doubts that we would do it simply because the return from Armia retained is probably just not enough. I think Hughes would prefer the flexibility of that retention spot to make a move that is more important such as trading Allen then in dealing Armia. So Armia probably needs to be a bad contract for bad contract type of trade rather then a retention.

If you could somehow brainwash him into believing that Buffalo is Helsinki, you get a player.
Was about to mention how he’s able to raise his game at World Championships. Nicely played.

And for the record, your take and everyone else’s in this thread is an « adult take » and they’re all good in their own way. Some people need to get off their high horse and let live. I’m not talking about you, of course. :)

I'm a 44 yo kid when it's about the Habs. For myself I'm proud to not have "adult takes" on hockey.

Yes. You get elite pk forward, btw might be 100 % pk this season. Proved po performer. Should be in the NHL lineup but his name is not Yoel, then he would be.
Best hands on the team.

One of my favorite Habs of the last 20 years, would hate to see him go but if it’s back to where it all started in Buffalo I wish him all the best

ps I’ll be at the door with a gun if you try to return him

If you want a guy thats going to be giod every 20 games and non existant for the rest, sure. Hes lazy as f***.
No, he’s injured as f***. He’s not lazy at all. He’s fed up with hockey if you ask me.

I like Armia a lot too, it’s to bad he didn’t pan out into more of a consistent 3rd like winger who would pot 20-20

I think his last run of usefulness was during the covid cup run in 2021.

I think he caught covid multiple times that season, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but whatever consistency he may have had from time to time is pretty much nil now.

As a Buffalo fan, you probably already know this, but this guy is such a tease.

Hey there. Sabre fan here. Just wondering what Armia's status is? Is he pretty much done as a useful bottom 6 or 4th line option? Or is he caught up in a #'s / cap situation? Would the Canadians retain some and still move him for nothing or dirt cheap?
I think Armia at 50% retained (i.e. a 1.75M cap hit) could be a serviceable 4th liner who could occasionally give you more in the top 9 in spurts, on the right team in the right situation.

But then the question is, what would we be willing to trade him for to use one of our 2 remaining retention spots for the 2024-2025 season on trading Armia? Probably more than a team is willing to give us for him.

I think the situation now is the best for us: he plays in Laval, not taking away ice time from a rookie, until there are too many injuries. He also seems to be a good mentor for the youth in Laval.
