That's a stupid take. I loved Chris Farley but he was the furthest thing from an athlete. Stolarz is healthy and athletic.and not thick??

2 Of 4 are long shots right now

Berube as finalist is highly unlikely
Leafs winning Atlantic , not as much a long shot, but Florida would need to really fall off and the leafs take it up a notch

But stolarz definitely has a shot at vezina finalist right now

How is Berube unlikely? Leafs have had insane injuries and are playing some outstanding physical defensive hockey. And that ties into point #2, where you say it is unlikely and yet the Leafs sit in 1st right now?

Leaf fan here but I'm going to be very cautiously optimistic considering what happened with Andrew Hammond a few years ago.

He is certainly showing he is the real deal. Toronto’s goalies and their D are solid. Very solid!

I think one thing that has really helped the Leafs goaltending this year is that they are way better at protecting the front of the net and preventing high dangerous chances.

They currently rank 2nd in 5v5 HDCA/60 where as the previous 2 seasons they ranked 20th and 14th.

Weather it is from Berube's new system or new personal on the blueline (Tanev and OEL) or a combination of both, this is definitely the best defensive Leafs team I have seen.

Friedman talked about how well liked he was in Florida, and he always comes across as super affable and easy going in interviews. Get a sense he's a great dressing room guy.

Takes a lot of pressure off Woll, a very capable goalie in his own right. They're a great tandem at the moment.

No, he’s a fraud having a career year. He might be good enough to keep it up for a year and that would be found money for the Leafs if he did.

I felt personally offended that David Amber picked him to make the 4 Nations over Swayman. Truly insane.

Didn't he lead the league in save percentage last year? Not sure what to think of him outside the fact that I feel really comfortable having him in net.

Did he? If he did, it was as a backup. I remember Driedger did that for like two years and then fell off and he had a longer track record of good play.

There’s nothing that suggests this is anything other than a blip on his career. At his age with his track record it would be one of the more unusual cases for him to keep this up for like a five year stretch.

Goalies ranking over the last 5 years (including this one) with at least 80 starts:

1. Ullmark: .920
2. Shesterkin: .919
3. Sorokin: .919
4. Stolarz: .918
5. Hellebuyck: .918

He's been good for a while, just hasnt been given a chance in a bigger role on a good team really. Hope it continues.

I would wait until playoff time before we pass judgment on that.
Agreed. In Campbell's last season with the Leafs, he had a .935 SV% by mid January. He finished at .914. Leafs fans should know by now to ease up on expectations, goalies are voodoo and there is no way to predict how they'll perform.

Hammond had one good season - not really the same. Stolarz has been good the past few seasons. He got paid a good amount for a reason coming to Toronto, the belief was there and he is meeting those 1A/1B expectations.
