Is 4 Nations a “Best on Best”?

Finland can't even bring their best team.

It is not a best on best when only the US and Canada have a full selection pool available.

Olympics is the only best on best.

Russia isn't there, so no

Even with them it would be a bit lame because there are great players like Draisaitl, Kopitar, Stutzle, Josi don't get the chance for a dark horse upset. But Russia there would be a decent minimum

And I do get the ban due to the Ukraine war. That doesn't change that it undermines the best on best label.

There's just too many great players not participating

The whole Team Canada roster is a joke Why they aren't taking the 3 best Canadian goalies is unbelievable And no Scheifele is also a joke

It is best on best obviously. Canada, Sweden and USA will being their best avaliable rosters, Finland almost best on best.

There is never a true best on best. In 2014 Sweden played in finals without 3 of their top centers, due to injuries for Zetterberg and H.Sedin and stupid ban on Backstrom. There is always someone injured or not avaliable

A real strong 'North America' is all that matters because they have the best 'paper rosters' vibe lately.lol

Guess some posters didn't pay attention during all those best on best Olympics and how close games were or who medalled the most. Or how often the paper champs left with nothing. This 'AINEC' mentality is hillarious to me.

It can't be best on best when two of the top six hockey nations are absent, as is one of the top two Hart candidates (Drai) as well as the guy on pace to lead the league in scoring (Kucherov).

They should've had something like an "Eastern Europe" team with Russia and Belarus (even if Protas and Sharangovich would be the only Belarussians to make it) since I know there can't technically be a Team Russia. I'd also have a Czechia-Slovakia team and a Europe team to fit in Swiss and German players. And that North America idea from the last World Cup would be great too, then we could see Celebrini and Bedard on the same team as a glimpse into the future. And just do a single-elimination tournament so that nobody plays more than three games.

Actually going back to making up teams on the fly and mixing different countries together like they did in the 2017 World cup wouldn't be good, they made a mistake doing this in 2017 as it makes the tournament irrelevant. Canada playing against team Europe in the finals was not good. People lost interest.

There is a top 5 in hockey, the Czechs are really not what they use to be. Czechia Swiss Slovakia Germany Latvia would all battle for 6th place.

I 100% agree with the choice to exclude Russia. But without Russia it cannot be best on best.

What's with the laugh react?

(yes, I just wanted an excuse to share that on here)

Well at least people had interest to begin with, unlike this "best on best"...

The best Finns are in the NHL. Why would the other Finns want to play in inferior leagues like KHL, Liiga or SHL if they would be good enough for the NHL.

People that liked/promoted Team NA/Team Europe nonsense are the lowest of the low of international hockey fans.

A disgusting farce that robbed us of a true best on best.

So it's better to just have Russians, Czechs, and Draisaitl not play at all for a real "best on best?" Yeah, that makes sense.

If you get that worked up over international hockey of all things, you probably need some hobbies...

Russia can't participate, they are too busy invading another country, the Czechs are irrelevant nowadays at the NHL level, and who cares if Draisaitl is not there. There is only 7 Germans in the NHL...
