I am afraid I cannot to watch the NHL to the end to the season (though yes but not) I have to follow the right regime because don't want so that my head to become friends with the table again and have to get stitched up (I have illness you already probably know what). :(

And I can be glad I didn't hit the radiator like a few years ago.

I wish you and our team best luck!!!

Yes please take care of yourself!

Coincidentally, in today's GDT (Stars game) a couple of posters I haven't seen post in awhile came out. Funny.....it was in a game that was an L.
These people are more critics than fans.
I'm guessing I know one of them and they haven't posted a single positive thing in the entire time I've been on HF

Scott Wheeler at The Athletic has been counting down to the top prospect pools in the NHL, and he reached us today at #6.
The Blue Jackets were the most difficult prospect pool to slot this year because Cayden Lindstrom, their top prospect and the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, is the most difficult prospect to slot. In theory, Lindstrom replaces the graduated Adam Fantilli and Kent Johnson and traded David Jiricek and slots right in atop their pool with Denton Mateychuk. But he hasn’t been healthy in over a calendar year now (going back to December 2023), has been in Columbus trying to get his back right and I think you have to start to wonder about this season eventually (he should be back skating soon, though).

I think the best way to do this is to rank him — and the Blue Jackets —according to what we’ve seen of him as a player and his potential/trajectory pre-injury. So that’s what I’ve done here. But I’m not certain it’s the right way to do this and did consider ranking Columbus’ pool closer to 10 in the countdown. Still, the Blue Jackets have a good pool, with good players at every position and three legit young goalies who should give them good depth in net.

2024 prospect pool rank: No. 3 (change: -3)
Top 5: Lindstrom, Mateychuk. Dumais, Brindley, LDBB.

wheeler has long been the high guy on dumais. i'm not a scout but i am inclined to agree that he has been written off by too many folks around here.

his hockey sense is off-the-charts good, the hands are NHL-plus, and his release is excellent. as wheeler notes, he's far more competitive than he gets credit for. dean evason's system is all about the small-area plays in the offensive zone, and that's where dumais really excels – both at getting open and at finding open guys.

i've seen folks on here compare him to fix-wolansky which is 1) lazy (literally just "they're both short") and 2) ridiculous as dumais's production is orders of magnitude more prolific and more directly translatable to the NHL game.

i'm not saying he's the next gaudreau (no one is) but i could absolutely see him having a zuccarello type career.

I guess I was one of those who brought bad luck with me. Had an overseas trip for a month and it was impossible to watch games due to time zones

I still maintain some hopes for Dumais.

Wheeler's praise though is like the kiss of death for a small player. He's batting under .100 with those guys.

this isn't really accurate imo. there are a few guys recently who fit a similar profile (prolific small guys) who he's stuck his neck out for like this:
  1. lane hutson
  2. logan stankoven
  3. zach benson
  4. marco rossi
  5. matt savoie
he's batting .800 on those guys, with savoie being the only miss. and even in savoie's draft, he was higher than the consensus on frank nazar and that might be another one in the hit category.

Benson and Rossi were in a different value category, often considered for top 5 picks actually before only sliding a few picks on draft day. There's a lot more guys like Pelletier and so on that Wheeler has glommed on to. He wrote extensively on our own Vitali Abramov. Just not a good scout. Leaving aside individual prospects, you can look at his track record compared to other scouts and it is not pretty.
