someone posted some of the goals from the CBJ-PIT series using the FSO broadcast. Since mostly all highlights around the web are using NBCSN or HNIC, it might interest you. It is a TV recording though, not the greatest.

Agreed. I've always gotten great enjoyment from Skraut's videos, and certainly appreciate the quality of work he's done (and the time needed to do it).

Thanks for the kind words. In the past it has been a lot of work that didn't seem like work due to my passion for the project and for the team.

I think the lockout taught me a lot about the league, and all the other cool things I could be doing with my time. While I was initially excited for hockey to return, and hence why I made a video last year, I just didn't have the same interest or excitement going into this season. I didn't pay attention to what happened this season. I went from watching each game twice to make sure I didn't miss any highlights, to seeing parts of 3 games this entire season.

If I were to put together a video, it would be just me re-hashing the same formulas I've done before, without the passion driving me to make it better. It would be just looking at some source material and putting together something that looked ok, without a deeper meaning behind it. The result would be a hollow experience, and one which would still take a lot of my time away from other projects.

Summer ruined. :(

Think of it as a Summer of opportunity for you to learn and create something of your own. I guess that's why I felt the need to tell people I wouldn't be making a video. I didn't want people to sit back and wait for something that wasn't coming. I want people to think of it as an opportunity to make something of their own.

Happy for you to invest more time in things that are, probably, far more important.

I am surprised that your interest is dropped that low, however.

If the passion is gone, I agree there is no reason to do it.

As far as time spent goes, your journey sounds like mine with watching sports in general. Hockey is the only one I invest anytime in. I used to be a big watcher of basketball and baseball. I used to watch the Bengals every Sunday. Other than the CBJ, I probably catch 10 games in those three major sports per year. Haven't watched a Reds game yet this season and missed the Bengals playoff game.

I have so many other interests now, so I understand the feeling. I can't imagine spending the time you did on those things. My interest in Hockey is slowly declining. I'll always be a Jackets fan, but won't be surprised if I give up going to games unless I have kids.

The bigger thing is creating things that I will be able to own and control when I'm done with them. I wish I could publish the videos without advertisements, but because I used clips which the NHL owns, they decided to monetize them. Yeah the league has only made about $50 in add revenue from my videos, but I made them to share with fellow fans, not to advertise to fellow fans.

Part of my personality I guess. I'm just all or nothing with a lot of things I do. When I care about something, I REALLY care about it. So when I go to caring about new things, I don't have much time for the old ones.

If the passion is gone, I agree there is no reason to do it.

I worked in sports broadcasting for several years, and getting a look behind the curtain killed my interest in MLB and the NBA. The Browns moving out of town killed my interest in football, and I wasn't living in Cleveland when they moved back, so I had no incentive to follow them. Working for minor league hockey kept my interest in the sport, but as I was a Wings fan at the time, I lost interest after the Konstantinov crash. Sports didn't seem as important after it, and the influx of bandwaggoners following the championship win made me loathe to be associated with them.

I didn't follow hockey from 98-2005. I might be in another cycle, or I may be done, I don't really know. Part of it may have stemmed from having a child. He started going to games at 2 months old, still calls pretty much any sport "Hot-tee" and wears a CBJ, Wild, or Blues shirt most days of the week (he recognized the logos at goodwill, he got the clothes) But it's a heck of a lot cheaper to go to LEM games than CBJ games, and he still gets 2 periods of cheering for hockey before he falls asleep. But I'd rather go out to museums with him, or take him to the park, and let him experience the world, than just passively watching it. Seeing the joy and excitement in his eyes when I do something as mundane as taking him on a city bus makes getting on a message board and complaining about potential trade proposals seem pointless. As a parent, watching things like the documentary Head Games makes you really question sports in general and the fighting aspect in hockey particularly.

Still having said all that, I've devoted a lot of time to the videos, and picked up a lot of tricks and tips about it. If people have any questions about how I made the videos, or how they can make some themselves, just send me a pm, and I'll help you out in any way I can.

My daughter loves the bus. It's adorable.

In a lot of ways, sports were more enjoyable when I was a child and didn't analyze the personnel/roster maintenance side of things. In my mind, the Kosar/Mack/Slaughter Browns will always be the among the greatest sports teams I ever watched.

And Elway's Broncos the worst.

I hope I never become entirely disinterested in sports, but I sure could stand to step back some!

Yeah I'm also planning on cutting back and focusing on other hobbies.. The problem is the Jackets were too much fun this year. And I waited through 13 years of suck for that. I can't stop now, though like you I do hope to cut back.

The problem is most of us are so invested in this team. I grew up watching the Islanders of the 70's and 80's and didn't let them go until about year 4 with the CBJ. I was a first day season ticket holder and have invested a lot of time and money into this team. I have friends within the organization so there is an even deeper connection. I spend way too much time on here but I enjoy the discussions and opinions. I don't always agree but it's like politics, you learn for both sides. If you only have one view things don't seem to go so well...

...and everyone was *****ing we wouldn't replace Gaborik.

#10 shoulda been retired for him IMO.

Here's the CBJ Sumner Boredom Topic of the day:

Who's the first CBJ Player to have his number retired by the club?

I've seen people seriously suggest we retire Dineen's and Vyborny's number. Hope it's a higher quality player than those two. :help:

It should be Fedorov just to troll the Red Wings and their fans.

Rick Nash, it's basically already retired.
