Aren't some of those old Chill STH seats really, really cheap? Under $25? I think I remember even hearing $15 for some?

If so, I'm not sure you can blame them for raising them. 12 years of a substantial discount seems pretty fair and I imagine they would agree once they got over the shock of the increase.

My seats are in 211 and I believe are $25/seat. A 25% increase is $6.25/seat. So if I renew my 2 half season tickets, I'm looking at a total increase of $275. I'm going to have to think about that before I renew. I'm not sure if season tickets are a priority for me any more. I have less disposable income now than even a year ago, regardless of the increase.

I don't think that is an egregious increase. They are probably just trying to bring those sections more in line with other prices. If they are committed to winning, and it appears they are, butts will be in the seats.

I suspect what you will see is the increases going to the seats people currently buy in the lower cost area. They won't want to drve away the higher value seats as the financial impact would be greater. I was told by my rep they didn't think there would be an increase for my club seats but I haven't seen the info yet. Just guessing. Seems to me you MAY have an easier time replacing the cheaper seats if fans start to come back. 25% is certainly potentially significant depending on the actual ticket price.

I'm in 211 for a full season, and the per-game cost is a little under $17, and going to a little over $21. Another 25% for 2015-16 would be around $26.50 per game.

Its interesting, what we see in price optimization in the industry I work in, is that customers that buy low end products are typically more price sensitive.......more apt to not buy if you raise the price.

Which makes sense for the most part. Most people buy the best seats they can afford. People with less discretionary income have less wiggle room to absorb price increases. If I'm investing 50k a year, I can absorb a 1-2k hit for my primo seats a lot easier than the fan trying to put food on the table and still enjoy some hockey (or other small pleasures).

A 25% increase in my section (Club) would mean I will either move to cheaper area, or go down to a 1/2 season plan. Guess I will wait to see what is in the letter. I know I cant afford that. Our companies annual wage reviews was completely offset by our healthcare premiums. I havent seen an actual net increase in take home in over 3 years.

25% increase is ridiculous.

I believe an increase is justified. After 12 seasons at a fairly stable price, I believe a 25%+ increase with the promise of another increase next year is outrageous. We're talking about a team who is next to last in attendance in the league that can't sell out 250 $10 green seats most nights

I'm fine with any price increase they may send my way, we are on our way to many winning hockey seasons to come. When you look around the league and compare, majority of STH here in Columbus are truly paying a very reasonable price. Like I said, no problem or protest to an increase, I just kind of wish they would have waited until after the team actually wins a playoff series (even a game would do) to notify us. "Show me 'Bama!"

Take a look at the website...

http://bluejackets.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=87936

All the seats in sections 206-214 are now the same price (and they did some other adjustments as well if you look) and it looks like these letters are bringing current STH in 209-211 into line with rest of the STH in that larger section. It's been this way since the beginning of the season.

The way it sounds to me with these letters, if you got your season tickets at the beginning of this season, you should already be paying the $1,099 price. If you have had them for at least 1 season prior to this and were paying the $16/seat price, then it seems you got a letter and they are giving you 25% increase this next season, and then the balance the year after that to bring you back in line with what everyone else in 206-214 are paying. So you're getting an increase over two years to bring you into line with everyone else. Our seats are in 206 and we got no letter this week as of yet, and I wouldn't expect to as the price listed on the website is the price paid.

So if that's true, I could move from 211 to 214 or 206 and pay the same price, once the increases have been phased in. That might make the select a seat more interesting.

I believe you would have to pay an additional $250 per seat psl increase. The PSL's in 209-211 were $500 each and I believe the PSL's were $750 for 206-208 and 212-214?

Seems fair upon seeing the Blue Jackets explanation. It would be suicide to increase everybody's ticket 25%. Glad to hear that's not the case.

I hope, in the interest of fairness, they end any special privileges the ACA gets.

This is nothing new if the Columbus Clippers can be used as an example. When Huntington Park opened season ticket holders from the Coop were given special discounts to transfer their seats. The longer you had been a season ticket holder at the Coop, the better the discount.

But the Clippers stated up front that over a certain period of time your season ticket prices would incrementally increase until you were paying what every other season ticket holder was paying.

My only surprise is that it took the CBJ this long to pull the trigger. I guess we are all going to get dinged next season according to Porty. Had to happen sooner or later, I guess.

NHL Tonight did an Eastern Conference preview for the playoff race and remaining games. They covered Philly, Detroit, Toronto, NJ, and Washington but totally did not even mention the CBJ. No respect. :(

To be fair, they also should have covered NYR, Ottawa and Carolina too for completeness. I'm not even sure why they talked about the Lightning. They seem pretty comfortably in at this point.

this reeked of a segment thrown together by a lackey intern at the last minute. they had plenty of warning that the season was starting back up again, yet they completely f'd this up. another example of how bush league the NHL Network is, compared to the other "big 4" sports networks.
