Kinda telling that this team doesn't miss Kreider at all. If anything they are playing better without him in the lineup. Maybe he was the one dragging Mika down.

A handicapped Kreider is an active detriment when Lafreniere and Cuylle play the same position. If they want to make a run he should sit out and get his back right. Come back later in the season or god willing the playoffs and be prepared to play limited but important minutes in the bottom 6 when he returns. if he's trying to get healthy just to play in the Four Nations, that's a bit selfish. I hope that's not the motivation.

I always thought it was Mika dragging down Kreider but now I wonder if it wasn’t the other way around all this time…

So...it was Krieder all along.

You have gone and done it now. Waking up him who shall not be named.

but the team just plays better. I'm not just talking about Rempe on the ice.

the team just plays with way more energy

They looked their best once he stopped getting shifts. I don’t think that was entirely coincidental.

I am personally looking forward to watching him play in Colorado for the lulz.

Based on the price I dont think this is a crazy idea. His leadership on the ice is something we could use. What's he got left though? Big question mark. Idk if he is going to come back mid-season without a training camp to get in game shape.

On a separate note I believe his last interaction with the Rangers in the league was fighting Trouba during the helmet toss game.
So THATS why Drury was so adamant on getting Trouba out of here. Just clearing the way for Captain Intangibles.

Are they though?

It’s been 3 games and they smoked Chicago who suck balls and beat a struggling Devils team with a blown 3 goal lead, should have lost in regulation instead of OT game against the Stars.

This team isn’t blowing the doors off of their opponents but their recent improvement started when he was in the lineup. His best stretch of games outside of the first 5-6 of the season came before he was IR’d.

If he stays out for a while and they start ripping off wins we can re visit this.

They are playing better overall and with more emotion. Forecheck is much better too.

Kreider it seems to suck the life out of the team. He also sucks 5v5. His PK we do miss though.

Toews??? Really lol
Worth a shot if he can handle it . No risks ...a bit of money . We have 2 centers in question right now and Carrick....leaves us Trocheck as the only legit guy . Rempe does not and should not dress every game in all likelihood . A guy like Toews who has that wining percentage on draws better than Trocheck could draw in those games . He always was solid defensively . Again....this is only if he looks like he can handle things . We don't have to trade any picks or people to get him . We have the extra cap for this season ......and he will need a team to start with . We have no Centers after the above mentioned guys . Injuries will happen if we are full bore last 41 games . This guy wins that one big FO could be a huge difference maker for us . BUT...if he is healthy is the key .

Maybe he falls short in his comeback....but still worth investigating . I would not laugh it off just yet .

how do you get a 3C and a 1LD? who are your primary or secondary targets? young cost controlled guys or older rentals? what assets are you willing to move in-season? do you trade the 1st?

it's crazy how 3 games turns this board from total "we need a 1C!!! Sell Sell Sell" meltdown into "well mika looks better we can probably make the playoffs with a tweak" halfhearted optimism.

Defensive stalwart Ryan Lindgren.

Lavi is letting this happen. If Drury is serious about possibly making a run he needs to be moved now. It won't happen and this is why this team isn't going to make a run.

I'm all for moving on from him as its time but I don't really think his line or the team has found some kind of missing element since he went out.

Truth is, they were playing better with him too before he got IR'd.

what's up with Laf just missing hits? He goes into the boards hard but it seems like he sells the hit ( like a WWE wrestler ) more than actually hitting/laying the body on the player. He always slams into the boards 'just missing' the player.
The Rangers work on that drill in practice everyday . Somebody forgets to tell guys that in game mode they should step over 18 inches to the left or the right . Laffy is great at the move as well . Kreider has it perfected and has for a long time now . Edstrom and Miller are a work in progress .

Mika has looked like a different payer without him. Even on the PP where not everything has been a one timer recently.
Maybe he got a trim ...bangs ? I noticed on one one timer he could not even see the puck with the bangs in his eyes a few games back . He has been better of late .

Some of us have been able to keep a relatively even keel throughout. The people who were(are?) ready to tank and rebuild before the midway point of the season were always delusional.

I dont want rentals unless there is a strong intent to re-sign the player. Marcus Pettersson is my top choice on D. Penguins GM was scouting in Hartford personally last month. He's still under 30. And its essentially been confirmed by Pittsburgh beat that he will be available

Yeah it’s quite something. Like fundamentally the issues have not been fixed, they’ve just had a decent few games. They were never gonna lose the rest of the way.

If the person running the team had any sort of foresight, they would realize this and not make moves to attempt to contend this season when the foundation is bad.

But that said I’m sure they’ll make deadline moves like the early 2000’s Rangers, and be in the dreaded middle

Make the playoffs and go from there . Habs won it with a bunch of kids and a hot goalie in 93 . Blues won after a bad start and Kings won from the 8th seed . It can happen . Maybe catch a break or two along the way ....If they want to tank do it the next season when McKenna is available to Draft .

Easier to give up for a lot of people than to believe in something.

He is so out of shape...Train him for 30 days then reinsert

Was injured all year until recently and yesterday was his first NHL game this season. It's unfortunate that the usual suspects will identify this guy as a problem before he even gets a chance.
