I'm fine with Rempe. With the last suspension the circus sideshow is over and he knows it. Let him be overly cautious and slowly ramp up his physical play. I think it's necessary.

He didnt even need to touch Hughes to put him on his wallet lol.

Speaking of Luke Hughes, he stinks. between that funny play, trocheck clobbering him for admiring a breakout pass and him just standing around while Cuylle and Carrick went to town on his goalie, he's just so unimpressive and the knocks on him have merit.

They outshot the Devils 32-23. They didnt only play well for the last 25 minutes. It was an extremely rare 60 minute effort. Rempe wasnt good yesterday but he wasnt a detriment. It feels very nitpicky to target him as a problem in the Rangers arguably best played game of the season

He sucked yesterday and almost single handedly cost them a goal against and was awful otherwise. If they played him more, they very well could have lost.

They had like 13 SOG through the first 30 minutes of this game. They picked it up and carried it late while he wasn't getting shifts. That isn't really disputable.

And this wasn't even close to their best played game of the season. They absolutely donkey punched Pittsburgh and Montreal during the first month of the season and hell the 2nd Pittsburgh win was a better game than this one.

yeah there's 4 teams ahead of us but they're all terrible. i hate to say it but we should be way better than all of them. and then Boston is currently in and they're bad too. the east is so bad.
That’s the only saving grace for the rangers, the east is horrendous. Montreal, Detroit, Philly, Islanders, Boston. All garbage. The two teams that the Rangers are probably going to have to deal with the most for the two wildcard spots are Pittsburgh and Columbus.

how do you get a 3C and a 1LD? who are your primary or secondary targets? young cost controlled guys or older rentals? what assets are you willing to move in-season? do you trade the 1st?

it's crazy how 3 games turns this board from total "we need a 1C!!! Sell Sell Sell" meltdown into "well mika looks better we can probably make the playoffs with a tweak" halfhearted optimism.
Last year the Rangers were in the running for President Trophy and yet they haven't acquired / spent much in trades. This year they are at 20% to make playoffs but you're arguing that Drury will spend a 1st round pick on a rental. This is not crazy?

I'm not saying it's a good idea. My idea is to trade kreider lindgren smith vesey brodz quick borgen ruhwedel and rempe, and attempt to trade panarin, and get a 1LD and a pick to draft a high end center. Id probably trade Chytil too. then can lavi and housley and let peca run the how, muse X's and o's, and get a defensive guy in here to figure this shit out.

but i know that's not what's gonna happen. This team will go on a run, igor gets hot, bread and fox get hot, and we'll trade a 1st for a grit 3C. Bjugstad always lurks. we are trying to win this year - i laid it all out two days ago.

is it crazy? yes. is it inadvisable? absolutely? but this is NYR we don't do things right here. there's no quit

Anybody else see Luke Hughes get one hand-tossed by Rempe behind the net?

Some people might not believe it, but I think Rempe at least partially made NJ tone down the physicality compared to the previous game in Newark, where they basically puffed their feathers and strutted around with a "you can't beat us" attitude looking to engage in scuffles.

He absolutely did and this was a very common theme in the game of hockey until we went overboard for the analytics stuff in the last 10 years.. I didnt see Meier crosschecking all our start players this time around. It wasnt a coincidence. Not to mention the tangible effect of MacDermid taking an O-zone penalty we scored on. He didnt play in the other 2 games and the Devils chose to make their team worse because of Rempe.

Bjugstad has never returned a 1 in his life.

Like even when he was good.

I think once the July 1st move he wanted to make was no longer an option, Drury decided to see if Trouba could rebound a little and maybe raise his value.
It clearly backfired. I get that hindsight is 20/20, but it blew up in his face.

The bigger fail was re-signing Lindgren when he could've traded him for a pick & found a competent NHL defensemen to replace him in FA.

Ive been saying the Rangers are making the playoffs throughout this bad stretch. This isnt the roster they'll be ending the season with. The east isn't good. Nothing is predetermined.
Making the playoffs is not the same thing as being actual Cup contenders. I do agree this was a roster that should finish in a playoff spot when the season began...until they pouted their way into the cellar.

However, I never believed they were good enough to win it all at any point over the past 3.5 years even when they were racking up all those wins.
