I mention Toews mostly because we have some cap for this year left to spend and he could get that prove it period with us and maybe find a spot elsewhere next season if he proves out for possibly a 2 yr deal somewhere .

Serious Cup contending clubs won't want to waste their precious cap on him in a Cup arms race .....we could outbid them all . If Cjytil gets hurt he might be good enough to cover that spot and he was 63 % on the dot and I think he could be an asset on 2nd line PP spots . He has a winning pedigree and should also help a bit in the room .

Anyways....I imagine they are watching this unfold because it is not often you get guys with a winning pedigree , a BIG Center , a FO expert to help the cause.......if he DOES make sense and can handle it ....then we can waive Kaliyev if needed and maybe trade a forward for a dman and move Mika to the wing . All food for thought .....also Toews is not young anymore .

Based on the price I dont think this is a crazy idea. His leadership on the ice is something we could use. What's he got left though? Big question mark. Idk if he is going to come back mid-season without a training camp to get in game shape.

On a separate note I believe his last interaction with the Rangers in the league was fighting Trouba during the helmet toss game.

Absolutely not. Once he had his list on July 1st the situation was exactly the same as it was the day he was traded. In the summer, Drury seemed to back down to Trouba's agent, plus the public perception that he was doing him dirty because of his wife's job situation. Looking back, Drury shit the bed on that move...I'm sure he would tell you the same if he was ever forthcoming.
I think once the July 1st move he wanted to make was no longer an option, Drury decided to see if Trouba could rebound a little and maybe raise his value.

Vaakanainen is an NHL player which, like the 4th line, is saying a lot for a 6D in this league.

So many depth players are ass in this league. We're not the only team that's been obsessed over the years with guys that look like they're trying.

That's one very clear thing Drury is a million times better at than Gorton.

Guys like Carrick, Smith, Vaakanainen, Gustafsson, Mikkola, and Brodzinski could tie bullshit like McLeod, Haley, Lemieux, Rooney, and Hajek in knots.

Even Sammy Blais was an NHL player at the time, the trade just sucked as a whole.
Drurys guys continue to tie the league in knots

I still say if Blais hadn’t gotten his knee blown out he would have taken some of the sting out of that bad trade.

We really need to upgrade Lindgren.

Been 4 years running on that.

If they hang around the playoff periphery I have my doubts that they’ll do it. With the fragile state of the room I can totally see them self renting him even though he hurts them on the ice.

It’s sad that it’s gotten this difficult to move on from your worst skater (2nd worst when Rempe plays) but here we are.

Stayed away from the board hoping this would be back to normal. Nope...

NJ are 2-5 in their last 7. Would have been nice not to give NJ a point here.

that's my fear. Drury is gunshy after all that's transpired... but he's just not good. If he was a 3LD getting 13-15minutes, we can make do.... he's on the top freaing pair, with our best defenseman.

I'd honestly prefer Vaak paired with Fox over Lindgren

what's up with Laf just missing hits? He goes into the boards hard but it seems like he sells the hit ( like a WWE wrestler ) more than actually hitting/laying the body on the player. He always slams into the boards 'just missing' the player.

This is not a Peter Forsberg situation where you have a player so determined to make a comeback that he is willing to risk his own health to achieve that.

Toews has been meditading his way around the world while sipping Ayahuasca. He is done as a hockey player.

Too many oreos after games. Rangers have some guys who are obviously not in the best shape of their lives.

I dont think it's debatable at this point.... this team plays much better when Rempe is in the lineup.

Mind you this happened after he tripped over his own feet at the opposing blue line allowing a weak clear to happen.

They’re 2-3-1 with him in the lineup this year. It’s entirely debatable.

If there are games to make this case, last night wasn’t it. They played well to close this one out after he was basically pasted to the bench.

Nervous 21 year old kid. It's not good that the Rangers need his presence to play like men but it's where we are. He wouldve been better off on the Brodzinski line because he neautered the effectiveness of edstrom and carrick who have done yeoman work all year together.

but the team just plays better. I'm not just talking about Rempe on the ice.

the team just plays with way more energy

If that was your takeaway then you missed the entire point.

It's not as simple as making up 4 points, you need to jump 5 teams.

There is a reason why they sit at (or under, depending on who you're following) a 20% to get in.
They play each of those teams multiple times. They are more talented than all of them, and the schedule gets easier in a couple weeks. I’m more worried about the 5th placed team in the other division, though I guess Pitt could be a problem.
