I don't really understand, since its ankle and not knee, what "worse case scenario" was that was feared?

Fracture? Were they thinking possible achilles or something?

Sounds like good news either way!

Please consider this a formal request to change your forum name away from anything ending in “dink”. Acceptable names are anything ending in anything but “dink”. :D

Who is our team doctor? Must be someone I have on ignore.

I'm talking about [REDACTED]. You know, the guy who says every injury is long-term, or season ending.

Don't see it either. It just seems to be a blanket reply anytime anybody speculates. Why wouldn't there be some speculation in the absence of information and with no games until Halloween? Kind of a big deal, of course people will wonder about it.

There is one guy who says every injury is going to be long-term. Gets tiring, I'll stick to that.

Gotta be case case result, everyone saying the same thing from start just found it strange they had to get that many people involved for a 2 to 3 week injury. That’s a very minor injury, must be just some swelling

This has always been the case. If mcdavid is out long term, as it would appear is the case, then season is essentially over

Didn't say anything?

Constantly saying worse case scenarios with injuries when passionate, and emotional fans are waiting for any drop of good news if a foul trait.

I have been worried all morning at work, just glad it's nothing serious with McDavid.
Yeah, I think we were all very concerned. Good to hear.

Time for everyone else not named Drai to wake the f*** up now.

2-3 weeks, not good, and not the end of the world. If it is a high ankle sprain, those things tend to linger, and that could be trouble.

This team was said to have the deepest forward group in the league to start the season, time to put up or shut up. Through the first 10 games, they have looked like (or at least, produced like) one of the weakest forward groups. Hoping this will wake the team up and be a bonding experience. Time will tell.

As I expected, 10 games or so. The bigger concern is McDavid hasn't looked right for over a year now. Really hope this isn't a period of his career where he gets derailed by injuries.

We've been lucky, all things considered, with the collarbone and knee injuries (and this one as well considering it could've been much worse) but it really is starting to feel like the wear on his body is starting to add up thanks to the liberties players in Gary Bettman's NHL are allowed to get away with against him.

The original fear was a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains can be worse than some non-displaced fractures in terms of recovery time.

The weeks for recovery usually depend on the ligament damage, 2 to 3 weeks recovery is pretty much the most minor injury. We got lucky no ligament damage was suffered.

Not holding my breath, but hopefully each player will take a look in the mirror and realize it's up to them to right this ship. There is enough talent on this team to produce more positive outcomes even without McDavid playing. Teamwork and effort. Let's see it.

Other teams would band together, challenge each other to be better, and step up and compete. There's even precedent for similar teams - the 10-11 Penguins made the playoffs with BOTH Crosby and Malkin plus Kunitz being out for significant parts of the season at the same time, and the rest of their roster wasn't better than what we have left now. They even pushed their first round series to 7 games despite not having any of them. It wasn't just the top dogs either, pretty much their whole roster took turns missing significant time.

The difference? The culture and internal competitiveness of that team wasn't complete dog shit like it is here. They took that challenge head on with a "f*** everyone's opinion, we're good players too and we're gonna work and win some games." Here? "Gee whizz, this is gonna be hard. I really hope Leon plays well." It's a joke.

I really, really hope and want to be wrong, but this group has shown no indication that they can ever, in any way shape or form, find a way to challenge themselves to be better without being forced into it. I'd bet heavily on this group flailing and feeling sorry for themselves.
