Anyone else think it was classless to take a slap shot with less then 2 minutes to go, up by three, and on a 5 on 3 for the rest of the game, and the game clearly over? And then proceed to run our goalie? Completely classless imo.

I dunno about running the goalie didnt sed it but a slap shot? No some real teams play a full 60 minutes

What on earth is classless about taking a shot on goal during a game ?

You could just as easily turn that around and say that it was braindead to go down and block on a game that was already lost.

That could've been prevented...... But they chose to be soft....

Well, at the same time it was pointless for Girardi to block the shot.

I wouldn't call it classless. Their top forwards weren't on, so Montreal did show a little restrain. He didn't run the goalie, it was a solid hockey play.

Yes, blocking the shot was stupid, but they already won, they could have just kept passing the puck around, there was no need to shoot it as hard as you can when the game was practically over already.

Edit: This is probably the anger in me from them not showing up and our players getting hurt but I just don't see the need for the slap shot. I'll probs be over it in the morning.

Habs fan dropping in.. really hope Girardi is okay. One of my favourite defenseman in the league. One hell of a player. I was very sad to see him needing help to get off the ice.

If McD misses any time this season is done. Simple. He is our best player; this year better than Hank. He gets hit by a guy who leaves his feet and there's no retribution. Torts who have soiled a great franchise. You must go! Go wait for the Bruins job to open up.

What's all this classless nonsense? It's hockey. It's supposed to classless. When I play I will take a guy's head off to win. What are you talking about? If Torts is stupid enough to put Danny out there in a decided game then that's what happens. Who wants to be classy anyway? I want to win a cup and if not then keep my self respect. As a Ranger fan I lost some self respect tonight. Thanks Torts.

Taking a slap shot no. Not giving the puck up with about 1 minute left on a 5-3, up 3 goals, and with him clearly not getting up...maybe. It's professional hockey.

At this point, it may be a good idea to try and trade for that 1st round pick back....

I'd be on the phone right now...but really, can we afford to trade anyone on this team that could land us a first rounder? I'm not a huge Richards fan, but we are so thin up the middle i'm not so sure thats the best way to go. Plus who wants his contract w/o sending another bad one back? Biting the bullet and not having our first this year might be the best option. And I never want to be out of the first round.

Plus Gordie would have to love a certain player. Who could that be in this draft?

Girardi should not of been on the ice.

Injuries compound when you add extra time to quality players. The game was already effectively over.

Injuries are sometimes bad luck, but Tortarella/Sullivan should of mitigated risk by not having the remaining top-four defensemen on the ice.

I would normally agree but we were already down Dmen, I could understand, just got a bad break. Hope 'break' isn't literal.

No, he was just playing hockey. Not like he aimed for the goalies head or something. Just unlucky for us.

I just hope he's fine.

Hedman's hit on Crosby didn't looked too bad either...
