Info for fans visiting Buffalo

depends on what you want to spend. club seats come w/ a wait staff- so to speak- you can place an order and not have to leave your seat. Personally, I like to watch the play to develop and center ice in the 300's row 1 or 2 are the best.
I like the comfort suites, its right downtown, a free ride on the metro to the game (about 10 minutes) and walking distance to the bars. Breakfast and parking are included in the room price. For me- that's bonus..

Club seats: Real Drinks! More cozy, laid back atmosphere.

There really isn't a bad seat in the place. I personally prefer 300s center-ice. (more fun up there anyway)

I would stay at the Hyatt or the Avant downtown. (short ride to the arena, could take the transit system for free right to it)

Check out some places like Encore (sushi), Bacchus (wine bar, restaurant), Buffalo Chophouse (great cuts, pricey), The Chocolate Bar (a dessert restaurant.. they also make AMAZING dessert style drinks.. you'll be pleasantly amazed) Pearl Street Grill & Brewery (close to the stadium).

If you like to party..
Chippewa gets crazy (more of the 19-25 crowd)
Elmwood more chill (23-28 crowd)
Allen even more chill (26-33 crowd) ((more of an artsy area))

If you're into architecture/museums etc.. you should definitely take advantage of the sights Buffalo has to offer.

Where is the best wings place in Buffalo?

I just picked up more tickets for my mom! Got her a seat on the glass. Now how are the fans around the glass in the defensive zone? My mom is a hardcore devils fan and a senior citizen. Think anyone would agree to change seats with her so she can sit in another section on the glass? (kind of last minute to get a ticket for her, and no one else wanted to go)

Needless to say we are :devdance: fans :D

Maybe I make the wife sit alone...:punk:

I was wondering how does the numbering on the seating work? Do the numbers get higher as you go towards high numbered sections or lower ?

So if I have seat 1 in 112 would I be closer to section 113 or 111?

I am interested in the numbers in the 100 level only :)

Gabriel's Gate takes the cake.

Personally, I think the majority of pizzeria's in the Buffalo area have great wings. Partners delivers basically anywhere until 4am and they have AMAZING barbeque wings, get them charbequed! (granted, i've only had them while intoxicated) :yo:

Well, I think our fans will feel sorry for you guys this year. But if you were doing good, I'm sure somebody would lump up the madre.. just kidding ;)

Guess I am spoiled by what other teams consider club seats (and are all-inclusive for food and non-alcoholic beverages). My team (the Devils) do that as most of the arena's I have been to. :cry:

I've been in the club seats at the rock. the food was awesome and the seats were comfy. Nice arena, and I stayed walking distance too.
 
Wings fan here, coming in peace. I'll be at HSBC this year for a Wings/Sabres game, and was looking for an honest opinion regarding wearing a wings jersey to the game. I know some places have a reputation for people getting in fights or throwing things at people just for wearing a visiting teams jersey ::cough philly cough:: Anybody have any stories of anything like that happening in Buffalo?

You're not likely to have any problems at all. I'm sure there will be some comments tossed your way- but I think you'd get that just about anywhere. Maybe more if you are wearing a Hasek jersey. Many Buffalo fans are curteous and respectful- if you're the same way- you'll have a great time... enjoy the city.
 
Thanks, that helps. I expect a comment or two. Wouldn't be a sporting event otherwise. I've been out that way once for a Bills game years ago. Looking forward to going back.

Making my first trip up to HSBC for the march game and have a few questions I am sure you guys can help me with.

First off, I bought seats against the glass in section 100 for $130 a piece on stub hub, was wondering if you guys know if I over payed or what not.

Secondly, Would you guys recommend staying on the Canadian side, or the Buffalo side in terms of saving money/traveling? Me and the GF plan on going to Toronto that Friday to see the HHOF and other sight seeing adventures, so please keep that in mind.

Third, any food recommendations? Preferably like Wings/Bar food but a place that is under 21 friendly?

And finally, how is parking at the arena and what time do the doors open?

I posted here a little while ago but I have a few more questions.

What is considered downtown Buffalo? Do any of you folks know of any good affordable hotels in the heart of the city? Also where are some good places to go to after the game is done (i.e places to eat with good BUFFALO wings haha, clubs etc)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without looking at the pricing for that game, that price sounds reasonable.

What days do you plan on staying in or around Buffalo?

I'll try and help plan out your stay to make it easy for you guys. How old? Type of music? What type of food are you interested in? Are you into art, architecture, etc?

Also, will you have your own car for transportation or will you be relying on mass transit?

Parking at the arena itself is pricey, I believe it's $25 for the game. But there are several ramps/lots where you can park for under $10 and it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the arena.

Out of town Hockey Fan

Hello Buffalonians. I am from Boston and will be in town this weekend visiting my girlfriend's parents. They are huge Sabre's fans - but I, obviously, am a big Bruins fan. Anyone have any suggestions on a good place to watch out of town hockey games in the Buffalo area? I'm pretty sure the game will be on VS but I'm hoping to find a good local hockey bar. Any help would be appreciated, and I hope you guys take Philly down.

Honestly, any bar or sports restaurant should have it on. Hockey is THE sport to watch around here, except during football season. I see they Bruins play Thursday and Saturday, which obviously does not conflict with the Sabres. Unless there's another hockey game that could conflict, I can't think of any other sporting event that will trump hockey (perhaps the Yankees)

My kid is going to a hockey camp at the University of Buffalo next week, and when we pick him up the wife wants to spend a couple days checking things out in the area.

Any recommendations for a married couple and their kid to do and see? Food, attractions, etc etc?

I got a couple ideas from another thread (Anchor Bar, Duffs, Charlie the Butcher) already, but I'd welcome more!

Obviously Niagara Falls if you've never been. If you both have a passport I'd head over to the Canadian side, it's much nicer. That said if you don't have a passport the NY side is still cool. You can go on the Maid of The Mist boat and head down to the Cave of the Winds and really appreciate the power of the falls down below. You can easily make a day out of that.

The jet boat is super cool although a bit pricey. http://www.niagarafallslive.com/niagara_falls_whirlpool_jetboat_.htm

The Buffalo Zoo downtown is a cheap good time but you could probably roll through that in 2 hours.

I'd recommend the Albright Knob Art Gallary. Top notch stuff there.

Chef's is a very good Italian Resturaunt downtown. Duff's or Gabriel's Gate for wings is a solid bet.

If you're going to be here on Thursday June 30th there is a free concert downtown on the waterfront.

The Friendship Festival starts on the 30th, so if you have your passports, you could check out both sides. It runs from the 30th, through Canada Day and Independance Day.

Not sure if you want it, but the local fishwrap printed this guide to area festivals last week.
