No. The fans absolutely hate this self-entitled douche. He quit on the Sabres' fans and demanded a trade the year before he had the injury. He should have waved at the owner's box not the fans who should have no hatred of Eichel.
He was all over the ice & continuously had the puck on his stick. He could've easily had 4 or 5 goals if he converted on his breakaway chances. One thing the score sheet doesn't reflect was how good his overall game was last night. The guy was buzzing in all three zones and I swear ice never seen him have so many backcheck takeaways in the defensive zone for us. He was really driven to be an impact player. But that's a bit of a double edged sword cause no that we see how much of an impact he can have when he's motivated, it's gonna be annoying when he doesn't.
Those breakaway chances were actually part of a funny sideshow, which is that Eichel had two breakaways but was stopped on both, but then Paul Cotter, a rookie with limited NHL time, comes in and shows Eichel how it is done.He was all over the ice & continuously had the puck on his stick. I think "booed just for existing" is a bit of a reductive take. Eichel and the Sabres didn't exactly part on the most positive of terms, especially considering he was the captain of the team and was the top prospect in the draft outside of McDavid.Considering he gets booed every time he touches the ice in Buffalo just for existing, feels like an expected response.
I bet Sabre fans would've loved to see that type of intensity when he played with them.

Interesting. I didn't realize there was history prior to the surgery demand.No. The fans absolutely hate this self-entitled douche. He quit on the Sabres' fans and demanded a trade the year before he had the injury.
Personally, once that came to light (by the dipshit's own admission), i really don't blame ownership for not taking on additional risk of the alternative surgery with an $80m player who already wanted out.
haha I know I guess no one ever said he was a leader to begin with. I feel if you are playing against a team you should stare THEM down not the fans. But what can I say I'm just a sour Buffalo fan?Actually, that seems to be a significant difference from Eichel's Buffalo experience: Eichel really isn't a "leader" of the VGK so much as just another player trying to fulfill his role. He's not wearing a "C" or an "A" and the team is chock-full of other more senior leaders such as Stone and Pietrangelo, and this year Phil Kessel as well. And, for whatever reason, Eichel seems happier this way.
Who cares about the fans. Also they were pretty petty towards him after the trade, they deserve it.haha I know I guess no one ever said he was a leader to begin with. I feel if you are playing against a team you should stare THEM down not the fans. But what can I say I'm just a sour Buffalo fan?
You mean the organization that gave him an immediate $80M contract at a time when the most points he ever scored was 57??? He was captain of that team. He demanded the trade after the best year of his career and they missed the playoffs by 1 spot (though it was the expanded covid playoffs). Spare me the empathy for this douche. And you know what, when he came back last year, he didn't chose to criticize the organization. he decided to piss on the fans who supported him all those years his self-entitled ass was there. That dude is toxic.I understand the emotional aspect from Buffalo fans, but the fact is, Eichel was tired playing for an organization that failed to put together a good team. 10 (6 with Eichel) straight seasons without making the playoffs. I'd want to jump ship too.
Na the pettiness if there is any was s*'n on Sabres fan after his temper tantrumWho cares about the fans. Also they were pretty petty towards him after the trade, they deserve it.
Eichel quit on them. Eichel deserves it. The fans worshiped him while he was here, even when he was a dick - until he told us all he demanded a trade prior to the injury.Who cares about the fans. Also they were pretty petty towards him after the trade, they deserve it.

He probably saw some random fan say something terrible on social media. A lot of these athletes look at that stuff and let it get to them.Hey, asshole, you quit on your team, the fans never quit on you.
