That celebration after the first goal cracked me up in real time. It was just exciting to see him score against Buffalo with all the drama between him and the fans, but sealing it with that taunt was too funny.

Considering he gets booed every time he touches the ice in Buffalo just for existing, feels like an expected response.

One thing the score sheet doesn't reflect was how good his overall game was last night. The guy was buzzing in all three zones and I swear ice never seen him have so many backcheck takeaways in the defensive zone for us. He was really driven to be an impact player. But that's a bit of a double edged sword cause no that we see how much of an impact he can have when he's motivated, it's gonna be annoying when he doesn't.

At the end of the day, that's the thing - asked for the max deal, demanded the C and quit on them a year later, asking to be traded well before his neck issue. He's a talent, that's for sure, but his attitude? 💩

I get the reaction, it's an emotional game (both ways) but he just comes off as an asshole to me as well as childish.

Actually, that seems to be a significant difference from Eichel's Buffalo experience: Eichel really isn't a "leader" of the VGK so much as just another player trying to fulfill his role. He's not wearing a "C" or an "A" and the team is chock-full of other more senior leaders such as Stone and Pietrangelo, and this year Phil Kessel as well. And, for whatever reason, Eichel seems happier this way.

Never struck me as a good leader which is fine, not all great players have to be leaders. Always thought he would thrive in a place where there was an established locker room and strong veteran presence.
