In case anyone still thinks McDavid isn’t a great playoff performer, know this.

You act like this is 2012 talking about rookie Jagr winning the Cup with the Pens in 1990. It was 2022 and MacKinnon was monstrous in that run and clinching game. And this year specifically, MacKinnon was great. Everyone else sucked.

Also talk shit about MacKinnon when you have a pic of McDavid like this.

Must be nice to get carried , McDavid cannot relate

Nobody actually thinks that, but it is used against him when comparing him to all time greats with multiple cups like jonathan toews and sidney crosby
This right here is the point. Toews is not on the same planet as McDavid yet because he has cups he’s mentioned along with McDavid as “all time greats”. There’s good/great players (Toews) and then there’s legends who are just on another level. (McDavid)

MacKinnon's a clear tier below McD. McD can do anything MacKinnon can do, not vice versa.

His play has nothing to do with it. McDavid, Drai and Nurse eat up a massive amount of cap and makes having depth near impossible. Let me correct that and say Quality depth. Keeping Broberg and Holloway would have been a good idea too. You can't win a cup off the back of 1 or 2 players, even Gretzky had help.

Monster difference between saying hes a bad playoff performer and saying he puts up 4 points, while letting in 3 playing little to no defense.

lol at bringing MacKinnon into this with his 7 goals in 7 games. Maybe rip the rest of his team.

And still and will never change. Winning game 6 of the SCF to clinch >>>>>> all the game 7s in the world losing.

McDavid is a loser until he isnt. This is simple math. He can put up 50 points agains the crappy pacific and lose again and all we will remember is the loss.
Hypocritical much? So, Mackinnon can put up big points and it’s the teams fault for the loss. But when McDavid does the same, it’s on him and not his team? Righttttt.

Nice crop on that photo, Mackinnon is riding on Makar's shoulders...must be nice getting carried by probably the best roster iced in the last 10 years.

Also, when you say this year specifically Mackinnon was great but his team let him down, you are making a perfect case against yourself. That's McDavid every season. You know, the guy who won a playoff MVP, unlike Mack.

How many times is McDavid supposed to yell “Right ****ing now.”

Are you suggesting that McDavid hasn’t willed his team to a Stanley Cup on the flights and in the video room? If so, based on what?

Again, some basic comprehension of the sport will help here.

Yes. I'm suggesting he hasn't done enough to win a cup because he hasn't won a championship yet.

You got it. Congrats.

Drai is still currently on 8.5M AAV.. it’s actually a huge bargain and arguably the best contract in the league lol 😂

The Oilers’ depth is what’s winning games in these playoffs.. you might wanna watch a few games.

The guy's career playoff scoring is at Mario Lemieux level. I would suggest it's others on the team that haven't done enough.

That's fair.

So what's the solution? Does he continue to be the victim of a sub-championship organization? Oilers management failed to build a championship team around him. That's what I keep reading anyway.

Either he stays and suffers under failing management or he leaves and breaks the hearts of all his fans. Both of these options suck. Maybe he'll sign elsewhere.

The best solution for McDavid, the Oilers, the fans, and the league would be for him to win a championship this year.

There’s multiple posters on here who’s entire identity is hating the oilers and devaluing the team and players achievements. Also a few Crosby homers who just don’t like McDavid.
I think every fan base has its haters but I do not think those posters actually believe what they are saying. They just want to upset Oilers fans for whatever perceived slight they suffered by an Oilers fan or fans at some point. Same with the Crosby fans. If they didn't think McDavid was great they wouldn't waste their time attacking him. Whatever flaws the Oilers have McDavid is not one of them. He's a treasure and great for the game and more folks should appreciate him on that basis.

I agree. I think the opposite is true as well.

People get so attached to players and teams that they can't cope when somebody points out a flaw about there perceived perfect "hero".

I have nothing bad to say about McDavid.

Pointing out that he doesn't have a cup and hasn't taken that final step shouldn't be controversial.

McDavid has been on another level in the playoffs compared to everyone in the past 20 years.

This stat is: (goals scored while player was on ice - goals against while on ice + powerplay goals against while on ice) per game played
The power-play goals against are added in to make up for the guys who have to kill penalties.

I like this one because it directly disputes some of the weak criticisms. Like " but defence", or Crosby wins more faceoffs! or whatever else. This stat includes everything. It simply shows you how many extra goals a player is worth to their team per game. Of course, it should be pointed out that McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, etc, have played fewer games than the others and their rates will decrease a bit over time.

No, but if it bleeds over into "and it's his fault because he is overwhelmingly responsible for it" I'd say that is where it goes overboard.
