At the same time, we have been **** with our TAM and regular players. We trade Felipe who's is still a solid MLS player at this point, for a guy that can't follow the pace 2 years later. Ciman who as overrated as he is, has good enough of a rep to probably have gone for more than we got. Ontivero, Bernardello, Lopez, Arregui, Mancosu ect. Our academy produces players who are wayyyyy far behind the MLS level and they don't get to play either.
Not only is the owner cheap, the talent evaluation is poor. It then comes back to the owner when there's no scouting department, there's no team affiliate to develop young talent. They probably have no idea who the prospects are at the superdraft too. If the habs are a fire dumpster, the Impact is a pile of horse****.
Exactly why I dropped the academy project years ago. I, for one was very excited at the thought of having local players that could crack in MLS but after being subjected to guys like Lefevre, Tissot, Ouimette, Jackson, Choiniere, LBG and I could go on, I totally was appalled. Any one that is not fangirling can totally see that there is something missing in their development as if they all have 0 soccer IQ. I see a huge difference when I compare Fisher to a guy like Lefevre or TMG or Chris Mueller to AJH or Bono to Crepeau...
You totally summed up, cheap ownership leads to poor evaluation, (they try to force players into the lineup because it's the easy way to avoid actual scouting work)
As for the superdraft, they are just lazy , plain and simple. It makes them look even more Pejorative Slured. From my memory, players drafted by (vast majority) seem to be doing well for themselves : Wenger at Houston, Miller in colorado, Romario in Atlanta, Israeli guy that played in the Europa League.
Now if only they recruited good players to make it up but no..... so far I'm not convinced with Vargas, MLS is too much for him. He keeps being invisible, at least Ontivero made sure to shoot way off target so you know he was out there. Gotta take baby steps and if we wanna win, he gotta sit on the bench. Camacho just got here and I believe that defenders take longer to adapt, but I saw significant improvement yesterday. Fanni signed till June but he gotta stay for the remainder of the season. Silva is ok but not that good, same with Taider. Raitala does good enough for a converted CB. Diallo is coming back in a few weeks to Montreal. Petrasso ......
Good signatures :
Rod Fanni
Jukka Raitala
Meh/Bad ones :
Saphir Taider (for a DP)
Petrasso
Vargas
Too early to tell (didn't play enough/at all) :
Clement Diop
Diallo
Camacho
Silva
Personally, I think Krolicki fits in all the categories. Anyone that can spot talent and skills will notice that Krolicki has natural raw talent, he just needs to express himself more on the field. If Krolicki was playing in Atlanta you would know what I'm talking about. He would be fit better too.
