Rumor: Images of a possible third jersey posted on Reddit four months ago.

These were logos used in a marketing study during the Melnyk era (2017ish if I recall). This might be an acid flashback, but I remember it coming out that the 3D logo actually was most preferred. Which seems to be contrary to most of what is stated online on Sens "social media", but it's also possible we are an echo chamber.

I suspect the original logo is significantly preferred among those who grew up with it and/or remember it being the team's logo, while younger fans prefer the more modern 3D logo.

I've always thought this one was a nice merger of the original Sens logo and the more realistic looking 3d logo:

Mostly because it got rid of the stupid "wings" that make no sense as a cape, actually connected the crest with the helmet and made it all much cleaner.

Not even close to as nice as current one.

Throw it in the trash with the Charge team name.

The Charge name and branding is so baffling, that the only explanation is that they consulted with a hip and arrogant marketing agency who refused to show the logo to hockey fans. Or there had to be a meddling owner who really loved the Flames. I don't know how they don't get how confusing the branding is. If I didn't know anything about the PWHL and I saw that team branding, I would assume it is for a Calgary team, or a farm team for the Flames.

The Calgary vibes this jersey is getting come down to the colour balance in the photo. If you look at the mockup, that artist almost certainly used the proper colours from the Senators style guide, and it doesn't have a "ketchup and mustard" look.

Vegas basically stole our look. Which in their defense, we hadn't used for a decade at that point.

You can take most Vegas jerseys and slap a Sens logo on them.

altuniverse.png

That's an alt universe if the Alfie group successfully purchased the team in the summer of 2018.

Granted, that red and gold aren't the exact Pantone shades we use, but it's pretty much the same thing. It's as egregious as Tampa cosplaying as the Leafs - but I guess we left the look dormant for so long that I can't be as mad about it. Their entire look is basically "just remake that Senators third jersey", except they used grey for the primary to throw people off from the long game of becoming the Las Vegas 2006 Ottawa Senators.

Even from a branding POV, the idea that they were going to have a gold helmet. I guess when you have 31 teams some elements are going to be re-used, but that's something that the Sens should have pushed back on. Their branding is so close to Ottawa. They even had to try to take both our franchse players.

Maybe it looks better in person. Maybe

All the Fanatics jerseys released this year look better in person if you see the actual on ice jerseys because they have a lot of elements that don't translate as well to photos and videos.

But if you don't like the design, it won't make it any better.

I think that the main problem is that they tried to reinvent the wheel without knowing what the wheel actually was in the first place.

Two small changes, and all of a sudden it looks like a Senators jersey.

I think the jersey would be more widely accepted if it didn't have the main crest. I think people would be more willing to accept a brand new template that does something different if it either had a different logo than the 2D, or an entirely new logo.

I dislike the chunky black shoulder pads (its the same deal with the Devils jerseys) and not a fan of gold trim on a primarily red jersey.

I think if you are going to go with gold trim it should be for white/black jerseys, just looks much cleaner. My opinion of course

But yeah the first pic you posted would be an improvement imo

I don't like the jersey as an Ottawa Senators jersey.

I don't think it's offensive or ugly as simply a hockey jersey template, but it doesn't match our identity. I'd say the same thing about the current away jersey.

I've see most of the authentic pro versions of the jerseys that Fanatics actually designed like the 4NF jerseys, Winter Classic, etc. The actual ones the players wear (not the "Premium" retail versions) all have very prominent and interesting details that rarely translate to stock images let alone grainy "leaked" images.

So for people who are on the fence about these jerseys, they will probably look a lot nicer in person.

It is ironic, but the details are usually less prominent on the version most people will see up close (Premium), so if you see one in the Sens store, it may not translate.

For example, the Canada 4NF has 3D maple leafs stamped into the actual fabric of the pro version but on the Premium it's just a screen printed thing.

The crests should be the same on both versions because all the crests are made and sourced from the same place (China) even for the Canadian made jerseys where all the fabric is proprietary and spun in Canada.

In the past I’ve noticed the crest is larger on the “pro” jerseys, not sure on the current ones.

There are three tiers of jerseys.

Adidas Made In Canada (Now called Fanatics Authentic Pro).
Adidas Primegreen Indonesian Made "Authentic" (Now called Fanatics Premium)

Fanatics Breakaway Replica (Now called Fanatics Premier)

I am referring to the two bolded types of jerseys. The Fanatics Breakaway/Premier is a completely different product.

The jerseys that the players wear, whether they are the Adidas versions or Fanatics licensed versions, are both made in the same factory in Quebec (SP jerseys). They make almost every component that goes into the jersey, it's ridiculous how they are made - but for whatever reason the crests are imported from China.

I don't know this for 100 percent fact, but I suspect that the Made In Canada Pro jerseys and the next level of jerseys (now known as Fanatics Premium) source their crests from the same place. I don't own a Fanatics Premium Senators jersey, but I own the Fanatics Authentic Pro, Adidas Made In Canada Primegreen, and an Adidas Indonesian Primegreen. The crests are all the same. I just looked at the Adidas Canada and Adidas Indo side-by-side. Zero difference.

The big difference with the pro jerseys is the material of the actual jersey that the crest is sewn on to. They are constructed to last through multiple NHL games, so for any fan that is going to wear it to drink beer and complain about hockey trades on the internet, it will last a lifetime. Like I said in my other post, as far as the recent designs that have come out this past season (not our home+away), they have a lot of crazy details that don't always translate as well to the Premium jerseys. They also don't always translate as well to photographs. It's stuff you have to see it up close to appreciate.

This is an example of what I mean when I say it is ironic because some of the details may not be as apparent on the jersey most fans buy. The top is the Fanatics Premium (The Indonesian made ones that everybody buys for $200-$250), bottom is the Made In Canade pro jersey. I understand that it is comical because it looks like the same thing in the photo, but in person there is a big difference. The leafs on the Indonesian made one are more flat, where there is an actual popping 3D effect on the ones on the pro jersey. All their designs have stuff like this. On a side note, you can see there that the crest is the exact same on both jerseys.

Not a fan tbh

I think they could’ve done way better - This isn’t a jersey I’d purchase.

Still think we got the best jersey in the league with our current blacks!

Not sure about team Canada jerseys, but I have 2 “pro” Sens jerseys with fighting straps that have a larger crest, than the others I own. Latest is a black adidas fight strap.

I only own the pro with fighting straps , and the jerseys one level below it.

It's confusing because of how Adidas marketed them. You most likely own Indonesian "pro" jerseys, which are now called Fanatics Premiums.

The actual pro jerseys are made in Canada for both Fanatics and Adidas. The Adidas ones were never availale at retail but you could buy them at team equipment sales (like last night where they had some for no name players on "clearout" for $250). The Fanatics ones are available at retail for around $500 CAD.
