Solid low event hockey game. Considering it was a must-win for Florida, it was a good game for us.

Samsonov was unbelievable. Hopefully he gets a rest tonight and back in for the final regular season game.

Knies was average at best. Had some solid moments and some not so solid moments. That’s to be expect though coming into a new organization, system, teammates and ultimately the best league in the world playing against the best players in the world. Showed flashes of the skill and board work he can do, these three games will be huge for his development for summer training camp next season!

The constant chewing of the mouth guard is tiring. He should be embarrassed

It's strange that (a game in which the Panthers needed a win to punch their wild card ticket) Chucky stop skating and made zero attempt to save a goal. Chucky could have taken 2-3 more strides and try to dive to impede/hook Tavares.

Imagine one of the Leaf players doing that in a must win game? The Toronto media would be in a feeding frenzy.

Samsanov looks amazing.

@Mess do you concede?
I have always had more faith in Sammy from the very start. You can see my off-season posts expecting him to be Leafs main goalie this year. :)

However Sammy has 1 single playoff game win to his name in his entire career so we are about to see soon how that plays out.

All hail Sammy da real girt grinder .. not sure exactly what he said to Sportsnet but something like "no one beat down Sammy" .. there is another 2 points stolen by our tender .. we have never had a year like this one with around 10 points stolen by our tenders .. well done .. now time to take a rest

Linus Ullmark in BOS has zero playoff games. I bet you have all the faith in him tho.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Not like JT to do that, so I’m thinking someone must have ticked him off. Would love to know what he said and why.
Yeah you'd have to think someone said something to him first.

Won't speak for Mess but I would think most if not all Leaf fans could not care less about other teams situations.

My thoughts:

JT was terrible that whole shift, until he wasn’t.

Sammy looks great.

Gotta be embarasssed with that back check effort with your season on the line. Would not want that guy on my team.

Rest as many star players as possible tonight. Sammy cannot play this game.

You sir underestimate the fleet footedness of Jonathan Tavares aka Cheetah!

100% correct. I never quite understood this line of defense of Leafs based on other teams facing similar issues. Boston is about to break historical wins and points records during the regular season, but that doesn't make them less vulnerable in the playoffs based on playoff inexperience in net.. But that also isn't a defense for Sammy lacking playoff experience and success.

When Leafs meet Boston in the 2nd round then the playoff success and experience of Sammy vs Ullmark will be a big discussion point. :wg:

Otherwise that is of no concern when we're currently facing a recent Conn Smythe goalie in Vasilevskiy. He is the only opposition goalie currently of any concern for Leaf fans. or at least he should be.

Think you mean 1 playoff win, not 1 playoff game.

Washington's record in the playoffs is irrelevant. His "experience" (which you keep talking about) is 8 playoff games.
And boy, if you're concerned about playoff experience in your goalies, you must be thrilled we got Murray!

"Islanders Videos" lol

Tkachuk looked lazy on the backcheck, but he'd been on for over a minute and a half. Barkov had been on almost as long, and went to the bench instead of chasing JT, as did Forsling.

Beautiful deke by JT.

How did JT have any gas in the tank to skate that well after such a long shift? Or did it just looked like that because everybody else was gassed too?

Yeah you'd have to think someone said something to him first.

regardless, if someone wants to make a valid analysis of chances in the PO/vulnerabilities etc, then a consistent metric must be applied to all teams.

Yeah, the whole who cares about other teams thing is usually just an excuse to make a double standard.

I always find myself comparing JT to Sundin......never at the top of the heap but consistently a point per game guy year in and year out.

On that goal last night I was like "there's the old Sundin backhand". LOL
