I'll let myself out.

I find it amusing that fans are just fine when a GM signs a player to a contract, but then trades him to another team or buys him out when it's in the best interest of the team. Yet when a player is looked upon poorly when he requests a trade because he wants a situation that's more in his best interest.
I'm fine when a player requests a trade. Sometimes it sucks, but they are the only ones looking out for their best interest, just as a GM, as he should, is looking out for the team's best interest
I think he will be playing in Toronto for the Leafs. This matter was dealt with in June.So where does Illya want to play?
I'm not sure he's an NHL player to even start the season.
So which AHL team does he want to play for?

I don't know (although it sounds like it's a non-issue now), but that's irrelevant to my point. My point isn't that he's some great, marketable player with a future on 31 other teams, it's more towards the "He signed a contract, he should honor it" crowd. GMs do what's they feel is in their best interest, players have the right to do what they feel is in their best interest. Yet many fans seem to think a player is some sort of bad apple when he requests a trade. Just odd to me.
He can’t do that. He is under contract to the Leafs. If he goes back to Russia without us lending him to a Russian team he is still under contract to Toronto when he comes back. Please go back to Russia
But then sign with Colorado or NYI next summer.
It would take a so called ''hockey trade'' to make it work since both teams consider themselves to be contenders, and I don't see a player on Colorado's roster that they willingly would trade and Toronto would want.Colorado would be a perfect fit given Mikheyev's speed and the Avs need for a 2LW to replace Saad.
....Mikheyev was played and played a lot. You have no idea what you are talking about. And if he doesnt he should just shut up and sit on the bench? Its not like an Eichel situation where hes worth anything, he just wants a chance to play on a team that has a spot for him. This is just like the Islanders refusing to move Ho-Sang.
Look at Barabonov, he would have never gotten a fair shake in Toronto, but excelled outside of it. Some environments arent right for guys.
