I don't think he deserves to be playing any higher, but for the people upset and thinking you should want to die here to be a leaf, no one is wanting to die to be a leaf.
The leafs don't give a crap about how much you want to be a leaf or if you dreamt about it growing up. Its a business for both sides.

Should Spezza get 5 million coz he really wants to be here?

No thanks to him lol, 0 pts in 12 GP. I'd look in the mirror if I was him and this is a guy who is very soured about the team.

In case you haven't noticed hockey is about more than just offensive point totals. His speed really opens up the ice for his linemates and another year of rehab and recovery from his horrific injury should help him regain some scoring touch.

An overpaid player who had a hard time putting the puck into an empty net wants out? Fine, let him leave. Have his agent find a taker

If Robertson comes in and makes the team just give him his wish and save us all the distractions and speculation all the time in the media.
He’s a bottom 6 winger and a good one defensively. I would prefer they move him now. He’s not getting top 6 on a contender so why even want to go to a bad team jeez.

Not a lot of guys who get top 6 minutes can get away with 0 pts in 12 post-season appearances. You gotta contribute, what he's contributed says he's a nice bottom 6 penalty killer type that doesn't belong in the top 6. This is a case where he should have just shut up and put in work, if he was more impactful than maybe he'd get more of a chance in the top 6 in this upcoming season.

I have zero time for people who don't put in the work and make crazy requests when they haven't earned anything. I stated previously if someone requests a trade, do it. You don't want people who aren't about the crest on the front on the team.

I agree about trading players that want out.
Now I have no idea how much work Mikheyev put in. Maybe some do or maybe facts are irrelevant.
About no points in playoffs, I'd write off last year when he was coming off a major injury to his wrist.
This year, who knows maybe he was shooting against a hot keeper?

But if he truly wants out it is best for everyone (even the humans) that he be moved.

You obviously don't watch the games because Mikheyev is one of the hardest workers on the team.

I have zero time for opinions not based in reality.

Cool, reward mediocrity and cry babies and put them in the top 6, that's the type of culture you want to foster.

It's a positive think that management makes decisions based on logic, and not the emotional responses many fans exhibit. The team is currently better with him, than without... that's all that matters. He'll stay until we find a replacement, or if there is a trade that makes the team better NOW.

Another "own rental" lol.

We'll jot his name down beside Rielly (probably) and JVR, Gardiner, Bozak etc.

If only we could have recouped a 4th/5th round pick... instead of having a better team...

I think you're aiming a bit low on the returns there.

I mean with or without JVR, Bozak etc...team didn't advance past the 1st round.

Ok... a third... which helps us today how? Or even a 2nd...??

JVR is probably a 1st+
Bozak probably a 2nd
Gardiner...tough call...back injury
Hyman...2nd+
Barrie...2nd-3rd

Good currency in previous off-seasons to land other things we needed, didn't necessarily need to just use the picks :)

I'm talking specifically of Mikheyev... The rest of this is a red herring in the discussion. We are better with Mikheyev now, than some draft pick. The pick isn't likely to be very high anyway.

Exactly. He's a bottom 6 almost anywhere else as well. It's not like he's fourth line, he is steadily 3rd line with some spot duty occasionally on line 2. Don't get where he thinks he's deserving. I think Dubas watches camp closely. Robertson, Anderson, Ho-Sang, Gusev come in looking like they're gonna steak a spot...Dubas will unload Mikheyev. Just my opinion

Probably a 3rd at best on Soup if we had to put him on the trade market today. I'd really need to see how he handles himself on the team, dressing room etc. If he's sulking or not giving it all because he ends up on the 3rd line, you do need to move on.

He needs to play for a new contract, playing time, or to be traded for value... if he doesn't show up, it will cost him, more than us. I'd expect full effort from him.

He isn't that good .he's making what 7 goal scorer makes
