at the end of the day, no matter how badly he just burned us, Ilya Kovalchuk will have a special place in my hockey heart. one of the most entertaining, electrifying, talented players that I have had the pleasure of watching on a regular basis. He is a ****ing horse. I will miss you to no end Ilya. Lets hope it works out for both sides.

I never thought I could love a hockey player so much at that moment. The guy was just so fun to watch and was exciting to watch from the get go.

Sports are here for entertainment. End of the day, I love the Devils but I watch sports because I enjoy it. The moment it ceases to become enjoyable, I won't watch anymore. Lots of **** will have to happen for that to occur though.

Not when 95% of your players are a single nationality. Russian hockey is not a viable business, it's just something Putin and oligarchs put a ton of money into.

All that's going to happen is Russia segregating itself out of the NHL.

I doubt somebody goes against Lou. He's the most respected GM in the league and if Kovy were to come back, Im pretty sure there wouldnt be any obstacles (except $).

But the Shyamalan twist here could be Lou simply saying "No."

The Devils should never, ever pay another player that kind of money again. EVVVVVVVVVVVVVVER.

You could be right. The timing is perfect to avoid the full recapture penalty. Kovy's contract is wiped from the books and the franchise appears more appealing to prospective buyers.

Except that Kovy was a guy who brought in a lot of fans to pay tickets for the prospective buyers, and Kovy made the Devils a better team to rake in all that post-season cash. Some conspiracy theories are dumb. Like this one.
