At one point (24 minutes in) Igor talks about the contention window and how the whole 2 years left theory is untrue and that things can change from one year to the next. He specifically calls out Kakko as a breakout candidate and says he sees how hard he trains and how he plays with potential to do more.

I like Igor and probably the best goalie to put on the jersey. Very good teammate with little drama.. but you cannot pay a goalie that much and field a great team..

One of the biggest mistakes the front office has made in the past decade was not signing Igor to 8 years x 7-8M. I said this on page 1 of the contract thread the day he signed.

I have a feeling that contract didnt get signed bc Shesty disnt want it. He wants to be paid 1C money.

I said this in another post/thread, but more than okay trading Igor at this point. 8/88 is more than a fair contract and would have also made him the highest paid goalie in NHL history.

That would have handicapped his next contract to be a high number at 8 years. He's going for 8 years now. I don't think he would have taken 8 years on his last contract.

Don't worry it's nowhere near confirmed that we will lose him, but i agree if we do lose him we can at the very least expect to be cupless at least another 8 years. Only a dumbass GM would get rid of the only player who shows up each postseason.
