I didnt like Henkes contract and he played like the best goalie in the world through most of it. Thats the bar Igor has to achieve to make it palatable. Anything less and he deserves all the criticism hes gonna get.

I'm being pissy but ultimately it's just like, I'd rather pay a goalie $6 mill per and spend the other 5.5 on either a good defenseman to help him out or a couple of good depth players to make thea team around him better.
The difference between a good goalie and "league's best" just isn't enough to justify the cost. You still need a good team in order to win and at that point you're just sinking a ton of money into a position that can be filled with a cheaper guy and you can still win a cup

Doesn’t help that he only performs like the league’s best goalie 2 months out of the year. We’ll just have to hope and pray he’s above average enough to drag us there for the next 8 years.

It’s hard to say with him right now, because there are some shots he needs to stop, but the defense isn’t playing NHL level hockey right now. That contract could wind up being another brutal Drury contract.

It was obvious to everyone except one poster on HF abd Chris Drury apparently that 11.5M for a goalie that shows up for half a season was preposterous but here we are. With these contracts I think the Giants have a better future.
