My beer league games shouldn't be chippier than the NHL.
Well, the issue with marketing is that 50% of it is a waste of money. What percentage of responses to this aren't going to be marketing-related? 70%?
This tracks tbh.Nothing too crazy
newspaper and magazine ads
maybe a couple radio commercials
get the NHL into blimps
Why do you have any good ideas ?I have noticed several threads about the failure of the NHL to market itself.
If you were voted NHL commissioner for a day, what kind of ideas you have to better market the NHL?
That’s not bad , that would mean cap wouldn’t go up as quick, and eliminate some TV money, and mean season tickets won’t go up as quickly in price.Abolish the NHL Network exclusive games, and abolish local blackouts.
This is correct. The NHL was ahead of its time. Could you imagine the ticket prices today to see the Broad Street Bullies empty the benches?!?! MMA is all the rage because it's intense, violent, and full of characters and storylines. The two loudest times in terms of crowd noise during a game are goals and fights. Why you would remove one of them intentionally... and think it's good for business... is beyond me.Violence, hit complitions, fights all that stuff. It's something a lot of people say "is no longer part of the sport" but it is, and it sells
On a large level, it starts with the players and the NHL won't be able to market them properly until they remove the hard-coded media training they get at the junior level that makes them absolute robots. It is an overhaul that would take decades.
On a larger scale, something Ive been bemoaning for years is how wasted the canadian major junior televised rights are as a product. Theres tons of fascinating storylines across the CHL every year, easily as marketeable as college football is, but easily 70% of the hockey world cant access it because coverage is either done by a college-station tier broadcasting team that only broadcasts on the local cable station from rogers, or the newspaper report from the Sarnia Enquirer. On a large level, it starts with the players and the NHL won't be able to market them properly until they remove the hard-coded media training they get at the junior level that makes them absolute robots. It is an overhaul that would take decades.
Youre joking right? Bettman is absolute trash at every aspect of his job besides fighting the PA and he costs over 10 f***ing million a year. Literally anyone else would be better.Wouldn't do anything.
If I know Im fired omorrow anyway, why should I give a crap?
