If you were in the NHL would you read HFBoards daily?

It would be demoralizing...

But again, that assumes that a professional athlete puts stock in what a fan thinks. For the most part, they don't. They care what their peers (other players) and employers thinks.

We (some of us) over-rate our importance. Sure, everyone likes to be appreciated, but fans are fickle and no one knows that better than professional athletes. None are going to wilt because you or I criticize them. If they were that mentally weak, they would have never made it to The Show in the first place.

The dirty secret (at least secret to some) is that many players don't give a damn what you and I or other fans think. And frankly, I don't blame them.

Since i am a pretty narcissistic guy who is driven by my own ego i would read this forum and see what people say about me. Its not like i will get sad if people give me critism like alot of babies do these days. Always aim to get better!

I feel like I would occasionally as a rookie and would slowly wean off of it when I realized how dumb it is.

If I was a GM, I would actually post possible deals to see what diehard fans thought of it. I wouldn't weigh it much, but I'd be curious. I wonder if GMs ever get in "No, my player is better!" fights and post it on the boards to decide.

As much as I like this site, I probably wouldn't.

For one, NHL or any professional sport for that matter, demands a lot of time and dedication. So, whenever, if ever, I do have free time, I'd think I'd want to enjoy my paycheck.

I'm the head chef of an upscale restaurant and I avoid foodie boards like the plague because they are full of people who have stupid ideas and don't know why things really happen the way they do. Earlier in my career I read them but they made me angry and depressed so I stopped. I imagine HFBoards is similar for NHL players.

Kind of a tough hypothetical to deal with, so I'd approach it as if I somehow became an NHLer tomorrow I would continue going on HFBoards and I'd continue to talk (cautiously, of course) about things.

They actually showed hfboards during HNIC awhile back

They went to the polls section and were showing what hfboards posters thought about an incident

I 100% would, but that would probably be because of the same reasons I do now:

Big hockey fan, love talking / reading hockey, listening to other fans, etc

Don't think that would change if I was in the NHL. You are still a fan.

I do think that social media would be different though. Pro athletes on twitter are brave LOL

Rob Zepp and Higgins' brother have an account here. Brian Savage once did an AMA. Obviously Bobby Mack was here. A scout said lots of players read it for laughs.

And of course that picture of Dubinsky browsing.

no! HF is a useless resource. if there were a printed version, it would be useful for lining birdcages or warping fish heads.

Actually, I think many fans knows more about the league as a whole than many NHL players. They play in their team, taking care of their own everyday business, living their tunnel of life with hard rough work. Of course they know the weaknesses and strenght of mates and opponents that we do not know. But those NHL:ers (all Swedish ones) I have learned to know thru the hockey I have been involved within, have said many things that got me surprised coming from a former or current player. This I don't say to praise fans or put down players. I just think players don't have interest/time to follow everything that happens.

I thought this was only the habs board...some of the people over there would be ready to form a mob and hang DD and Eller if they could. I wish I was kidding but I'm not, the negativity in there is sometimes sickening.

Even going into the Carey Price thread, you'll see a small handful of fans complaining about him saying he's not as good as his stats suggest.

I find it very funny that you think your team board is different from any of the other ones.

If I were in the NHL I would be too cool for all of y'all. So no.

Also this thread is disappointing. I didn't bother to read past the first page. HFboard is GOAT.

If I were a player I'd constantly talk about how ****** I was and only hate on myself even after having a great game or something.

After scoring a hattrick posting "wow what a garbage performance. I can't wait till he's traded".
