Get me Gavin Brindley RW/C with the 23rd pick 1st round.

Brindley is a high-motor player who excels on the defensive side of the puck. He’s a tenacious forechecker and reliable in defensive zone coverage. He’s always in motion, always attacking lanes, bouncing around defenders to find them, especially on the power play. He anticipates plays ahead of time and moves to support them

he sounds like Ryan Callahan type of player. Teams need those role players. Go safe this time. Add more depth.

Voted Willander, but don’t think he will be there at 23.

Small trade back and take the chance on Musty.

When we traded up for Miller, we gave up 26 and 48 and got him at 22. Would like to see a trade like that to get a second round pick.

I respect that. If they go dman they should do it with a later pick. The more I read about Brindley the move I love him. Relentless hard worker with speed and skill. I say go that route instead of boom or bust. I like Musty as well but I prefer the smaller kid that is relentless that has work ethic. Rangers need to bring that identity back. The Callahan Dubinsky Fedotenko not drafted but that era of Rangers hockey to mix with the skill. Need more guys that can forcheck and cause turnovers type of hockey.

Sandin Pelikka, Danielson, Barlow, Perreault, and Willander will all be gone before this pick, probably well before. I assume Wood will be as well. Of the remaining:

Musty/Sale
Ritchie
Brindley
Sawchyn

Musty if Brindley is gone I would not be upset but my pick is Brindley. Rangers need that identity back again. If Fantili helps him become a better player with the hard work speed and always wanting to improve mentality that is a steal for whoever drafts him. Get it done Drury. Don’t select some bust thanks.

Wood used to be like a top 10 prospect, what happened to him?

I dont know any of these players beyond some highlight you tube clips.
But
if you have 18 choices to figure out at pick from at 23. This draft is potluck hot garbage.
My preference is players committed to college. BPA regardless of position.
My second is always frenchy French Canadian hockey nutter who speak english like it hurts. ehhh.
Also, BPA regardless of position.

I usually don’t like to speculate who the Rangers will pick unless they are picking in the Top 10, where the choices seem to be more certain. But once the Rangers make that pick will be fun to scout them and see what their potential can be.

Someone that will look after himself and hates losing corner battles /net front battles and in general makes life miserable for linesmen and the opposition . I'm not familiar with the kids listed .....is there one similar to that I described ?

I know size isn’t everything but he measured at 5’8” at the combine and I’m kinda uncomfortable with that if there’s other comparable prospects with a bit more size to go with the skill available when we pick

Size isn’t the whole story, but I’d be a little disappointed if we walk away from the supposed deepest 1st round in recent memory with a 5’8 155 pound winger.

So you would not take a chance on Brandon Point, Ryan Callahan or Brad Marchand skill set in round 1 because they are small. It’s not like he is Theo Fleury or Mats Zuccarello small but they are competitive players. That will sometimes matters over their physical stature.

So if Brandon Point or Ryan Callahan type was projected as a 1st round pick, you rather take a player that is bigger but cant move as quick or relentless on chasing the puck. Work ethic and will sometimes overcomes their lack of size. Worth the risk in my opinion.

Depends on who’s still on the board when we pick and if there’s someone who I think has a better chance to translate to the pro game, nothing personal against the kid, sure there’s a chance he’s like one of those guys but odds are he’s not, that’s the draft for ya, nobody’s right all the time
