Andersson & Kravtsov were drafted largely for their “character”Whoever can skate AND has some emotional intelligence. The later is up to the scouts to get right in the interview...........(help!)
Nik Bobrov should never moonlight as a psychologist.Andersson & Kravtsov were drafted largely for their “character”
I would take But, Barlow or Perrault, but I doubt any of those guys is available at 23.
Want nothing to do with Sale, Adams, Cristall or Heidt
Are we saying he’s going to be Brayden Point? I’d really have to believe a guy has high end talent to take him that high at that size. The problem is the likelihood of success. If you draft a kid who’s 5’8 and slight and he’s not a slam dunk top 6 forward then you most likely flat missed on a potential player. That kid who’s 6’2 and 210 has a much better chance of being a useful player in some capacity. You’ll also remember Callahan retired early due to injury. Gallagher has had tons of injuries. So if Brandon Point or Ryan Callahan type was projected as a 1st round pick, you rather take a player that is bigger but cant move as quick or relentless on chasing the puck. Work ethic and will sometimes overcomes their lack of size. Worth the risk in my opinion.
Ryan Gropp was 6'2 and wasn't useful besides his shot. Size doesn't make you a better player. Huge Jessiman Dylan McIlrath yeah size mattersAre we saying he’s going to be Brayden Point? This is like when every 5’5 player coming through the draft was responded to as “what about MSL?”There was one MSL and a lot of flat misses.
That’s not to say I’d rule out a smaller guy, but I’d have to think he’s a tier above the competition. I also don’t have a problem with mid-late round dice rolls.
I read something interesting about the amount of players under 5’10 in the league. Those guys exist and some are great players, but the odds of hitting are much less likely. That’s why most are not taken high unless they are seen to have home elite characteristics.
Pull up the Vegas team and look up how many players are listed as being small outside of JAM.
Lack of size doesn’t make you one either though, for every potential MSL there’s plenty of Grimaldi’sRyan Gropp was 6'2 and wasn't useful besides his shot. Size doesn't make you a better player. Huge Jessiman Dylan McIlrath yeah size matters![]()
Takes two to tango but I like the thought process, drop back a bit and maximize potential in a deep draftThe move is to trade back and try to get 2 of these guys.
I could see this pick being traded- they won’t want to have to sign another first round pick. I’d be expecting they trade down for maybe 2 or 3 picks next year or preferably 2 or 3 this year in a later round.
No point in drafting a forward with our 1st round pick since we know how that usually turns out...
I get that you like his skillset - I do too, but my concern is that he really seems to check out mentally quite a bit and has zero interest in even trying to play defense. I could see him being an effective second liner in the NHL. I can also see him playing in Europe for his entire career. I think there will be safer options and I tend to be fairly risk averse.I like Sale. Ultimate middle-six prospect. I love his skating, too.
Ok, you’re completely ignoring the entire context of the argument. I’m not saying don’t take a smaller player. I am saying that you only take the smaller guy if you think he’s a tier above those around him. Why? Just looking at the make up of the league, the bigger player has a much better chance of being a player down the road. Middle to late rounds, sure… roll the dice. The problem when drafting early is that trying to draft an MSL and getting a Bracco there’s a more limited chance he becomes a contributor. The margins are thin. If a comparable player is 6’2 or 6’3 then he has a much bigger chance of sticking and contributing if he doesn’t hit his ceiling.Ryan Gropp was 6'2 and wasn't useful besides his shot. Size doesn't make you a better player. Huge Jessiman Dylan McIlrath yeah size matters![]()
no but eventually he will need to be signed and- especially if he's any good( I know that's not what usually happens around here with top picks) he's gonna need to be paid. The 23rd pick is prime for moving so I really don't expect them to pick there. I'd expect it to be moved with Laf somewhere. It’s not like the first round pick has to be signed right away. That makes no sense
So I guess did not want Othmann drafted.
I doubt they move Lafy when his value isn't that goodno but eventually he will need to be signed and- especially if he's any good( I know that's not what usually happens around here with top picks) he's gonna need to be paid.
