If you could make a realistic trade who would you bring in?

if the thought of a Nick Ritchie for Darren Helm deal doesn't get your motor going are you even really alive?
Ritchie is UFA after the season, so it wouldn't make sense. But it was still funny.

And I will miss Helm when he's gone. It's almost guaranteed that he will convert on every breakaway chance against us once he's on a different team.

Borrowing a bit from Wheeler here, but the type of trades I'd want the Wings to make this year and next year would have us double-dip on expensive players.
Chris isn't going to buy expensive draft picks. The Staal deal was $3.2M salary for a mid 2nd. And Staal is a serviceable defenseman, at least compared to what the team had last year. Low bar.

The complaint against Holland is that he delayed the rebuild by picking up aging expensive mid-tier talent like Daley, Nielsen, and Weiss, now people want to give up assets in order to trade for them?!?! Heck, most of you wanted to tank, and now you're complaining that the team sucks, lol.

One or two more years of suck. Just deal with it guys. It's how a rebuild works. Our rebuild will take an extra couple of years because of blown first round picks, namely Svech, Cholo, and Raz. (Though Raz isn't a bust, the team needs more out of a top 10 pick.) It is what it is.

I already did, in great detail...Mod edited it.

We have a very different opinion of what “great detail” means.

Cliffs notes of that post ignoring any troublesome wording

Dumba is a RH D. So are Hronek and Seider. So we landing Dumba, if we kept everyone on the side their shot implies for them, we would have our third best D on our third pair.

He’s been injured (one injury in his second year and one in 18-19). Lost 20 some games in his age 20 season and lost about 50 in 18-19.

One high points year and the rest of years not super impressive based off of his usage and IT in Minnesota.

You left out a few things...

Sergachev, realisitic? No.

Serg. just signed a deal. If we were gonna go after him (via OS), it was while he was still an unsigned RFA.

Did you mean Cirelli?

No, I mean Sergachev. Does not make a difference are they signed or not. Serga is the guy who would fit to our core with his age perfectly and will be locked behind Hedman for at least next 5 years. With us, he would be best guy at left side.

I've been pushing for Sergachev for awhile but I think now that he has signed to a reasonable deal, I don't think TB is dealing him unless its for an equally good but cheaper dman. It makes more sense to deal a young forward as they have better young depth there.

With that said. If we are talking about taking on a vet, I think a short term top 4 LD would be a great ad. I don't want to ruin Seider or Hronek by giving them dumpster fire partners. If DD is healthy, I liked him with Hronek. I wouldn't mind another guy to pair with Seider that will allow him to grow his offensive game a bit and take some chances. Having less of a dumpster fire D and goalie situation will help this team a ton. They still lack elite talent but when your goalie lets in every other shot and your D can't get the puck out of your zone, its really demoralizing.

I'd love Serg. too, but cost acquisition would severely gut our team.

Someone brought it up earlier but hanifin would be great i think. Or think about swinging a deal with Columbus for werenski two players to fill that 1 or 2 LD spot for years.

 You couldn't be more wrong.

The NHL is too smart to fall into the trap the NFL & NBA went through (massive loss of revenue).
Right. Because the perception of the NHL not acting sufficiently to address racial equality couldn't possibly have a negative effect on revenue.

I've thought this over a little. Very little, actually. I don't want to aim to high, but also setting sights lower makes me question the expansion draft. I guess the answer is someone not good enough to protect on a good team, but good enough to protect on our team?

I removed the portions of the explanatory post that included the items forbidden to be discussed on this board that we both had our posts deleted for. I distilled your hockey relevant discussion in that 7 item list. That is all.

I’m not getting into a political debate anymore. I’m 100% sick of it.

You had several hockey relevant reasons why you weren’t interested in Dumba. Leave it at that.

Hanifin would be a reasonable trade target and would fit in nicely in my opinion.

Dumba would also not bda bad target though I suspect would cost more to acquire

Not necessarily a "trade", but possibly a cap casualty pick-up/buy-low option:

If Bernier gets moved by TDL (somewhat likely)...& the Avs wanna move on from Grubauer...only 29 yrs old, shouldn't cost too much salary & term either. Added bonus, he's also German, a la Greiss & Mo. Gru could be the heir apparent after Greiss' 2yr contract is up (or worst case a very good 1b/backup).

Per THN/SI

"his .920 career SP ranks sixth in NHL history among goalies with at least 150 games played, so the potential to cement himself as a top-tier starter hasn’t gone anywhere. He mostly just needs to stay healthy. "

Grubauer is very interesting. He worked a lot with goalie coach Mitch Korn at Capitals, just like Greiss has worked with Korn at Islanders. Korn has followed Barry Trotz all these years as his most important co-coach. Before Nashville existed, Korn coached Hasek at Buffalo.

Also Grubauer has now got some taste from Parkkila with Avs, so he is not anymore one goalie coach product.

Considering how Patrick Roy first went to Colorado, let's try it the other way around and have them send us a future HoF goaltender in Grubauer. :D

I still think Georgiev is worth a look, though I'm not sure NYR is a great trade partner for Detroit.
