If there a TV series where the last series is definitely the best?

I haven't seen it yet (because the first two seasons left such a bad taste), but everyone who has seems to agree that Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard is far and away the best. In fact, I've seen countless fans tell people to just skip the first two seasons entirely and watch only Season 3. I can't think of any other TV series for which people would recommend such a thing.

I've always felt that the third and final season of Gilligan's Island was the best, maybe not clearly, but it was really getting into its groove when it was cancelled.

I think it's either the Shield or the Americans. The Americans started fairly mediocre/average and just got better and better each season after (slight dip in season 5). I think season 6 was it's best, though its maybe hard to say definitively.

I'd still have S2 of the Leftovers as it's best. But S3 is still definitely one of the best last seasons for a show ever.

Interesting. I'm watching both the Shield and the Americans.

On the last season of the Shield and so far so good. We shall see if it tops the first couple of seasons.

Americans I'm on season 5 and it is definitely the weakest season so far. Again, first two seasons were the best for me.

Even if they don't better earlier seasons, it sounds like they will at least be good and satisfactory ending seasons.

I finished watching the Shield, and whilst it was overall well done, it certainly wasn't the strongest season.

The last two episodes were phenomenal. One of my favorite tv finales. Not sure if the season as a whole was the best. I recall the seasons with Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker were really good.

They were well done. Especially the part with Shane. Gutted about Ronnie. Although in reality he would have hired a defense lawyer and might have been okay.

See I prefer the seasons prior to Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker. But in all fairness it was a very strong show throughout.

The most popular I can think of would be: Breaking Bad, The Shield, Angel, though personally I would disagree with all three as the best season. The 1a part of Breaking Bad's last season is pretty perfect though I was never in love with the second part and think it has the most overrated season finale of all time. The Shield's last season with Shane's downfall is pretty great though the season with Whitaker and Lemmy is working with the police is a great arc. I think Angel peaked in season 2 and 3 personally though it was revitalized in season 5 after mess season 4 and was so obviously ended prematurely, it should have been 2 of 3 years of the Spike version of the show before petering out like Buffy.

Maybe Six Feet Under? It's been a while since I've seen it.

I think its last season can be described as mid for it overall, just with memorable coda. It is pretty consistent show for me outside of season 4 (the Theroux/Trachtenberg one) clearly being the weak link.
