If the Leafs waive Sammy does he get claimed?

Most teams have little to no cap room. Edmonton probably would put a claim if they could but they have no cap space

Nah, how about Keefe uses him properly first? Line mates, opportunity, structure, and what are the player's strengths that can be built on? Squeezing the best out over every guy is not Keefe's strong suit. Not saying he needs to be warm and fuzzy like KD but he strikes me as "this is the structure we play, just do it".

With any new player thats sucking hard, lets look at their pre Leafs resume before we say time to move on. There are enough "year before Sheldon they were fine" players out there that we know he doesn't automatically bring out the best in everyone. Bert and Sheldon just need more time to find some common ground because Bertuzzi was much better than this as a Wing and a Bruin. If the club is going to succeed maybe SK needs to look at some game tape to see how Bertuzzi and Domi and even Reaves were used last year.

you need to tell the Pens fans how great a signing Jarry was since the vast majority were livid at hearing the contract Dubas signed him too , lol
 
It's starting to get embarassing seeing this guy groveling for his poor performance night after night.

To Samsonov's credit he's owned up to his shitty play. But if you're so bad you gotta keep apologizing seemingly after every game it's no longer a matter of account-ability. It's a matter of ability, period.

At some point you just gotta say "I'm not a very good hockey player".

No need to keep making promises about playing better you can't keep. Accept the fact you can't do any better and move on. Or the team's gonna make that fact a hard reality for you.

Just ask Ryan Reaves.

I don't have any shame myself. So I wouldn't have any problem showing up at the arena every night to collect my cheque. Sitting in the press box for the whole world to see me not play because I suck at hockey.

If Samsonov can do the same thing on the bench all year that would make two of us.
 
100% he gets claimed, although he's performing poorly, like Campbell. His mental make up is not like Campbell. He's a better goalie technically speaking.

But you can believe that we have people attacking the Penguins GM for signing a goalie who has performed better than any of our goalies this year in a Samsonov thread on this Leafs board? :huh: Might want to take a look at who brought the guy up.

Non sense he’s been on L1 or L2 the whole year. He sucks and is a pouter and his play shows that. You can see him tripping over his lip on the ice.
Reaves is being used the same way his last handful of teams used him until they grew old of his act. Domi is what he is a 3rd line spark plug/ secondary scoring filler.
Not sure what you were expecting from these 3.
 
What a ridiculous thread .. Sammy is only tender we have had in over 10+ years .. we have had dog sh*t tenders here in Freddy and Soup that crumpled up and sh* themselves when it counted .. we finally got a decent tender who won us a round over da Cup champs in Tampa yet the TV viewers on here go of off some stupid save percentage thing which really tells you nothing .. makes me LOL .. and for those of us who have lived with someone who has serious mental health issues to listen to the TV commentary about him makes me sick .. da Leafs have one of 3 worst D crews in NHL right now .. after Tre fixes our D core then we will likely progress to a conference final this year with Sammy and Woll

Sammy is not being waived build him back if and a big if Woll shows that he is alot better than trade Sammy at the deadline.
He was ten times better than Edmonton goaltenders last yr.

He received 2 mil bonus .
I think he would retire instead if going to the marlies .
If not hit will give us another 1.3 mil

3.4 mil + 1.3 mil = 4..7 mil
 
He’s had a very rough start to the season, but he’s only played 8 games. Would be insane to waive, especially since he was good last year, and he’s IMO better than our AHL options. He’d certainly get claimed.

FWIW, I do think Woll is legitimately better than Sammy - similar size/athleticism/reflexes, but IMO better technique, moves better side-to-side, overcommits less, generally better positionally. But Sammy will likely get out of his funk and be a good backup (or even 1B) for us as the year progresses.

Hildeby is an intriguing prospect - huge, young, looks pretty calm/poised in net. However, he’s played a grand total of 6 games in North America. His year is not this year, Woll/Sammy is what we’ll be riding with.
