You would think that Price's two shutouts in the final elimination games would shut his detractors up. Apparently not... Hfboards, how i love thee ...

Maybe Budaj is specially bad at this, but the difference between Price and Budaj is enormous at rebound controls.
Price allowed Canada to execute their game plan. The team had confidence in him. That's huge. Not to say they didn't have confidence in Lu or Smith, they just had a little bit more in Price.
Ah. So the media voted for Selanne as MVP, and for this all-star team:
Goalkeeper: Henrik Lundqvist, Sweden
Defenseman: Erik Karlsson, Sweden
Defenseman: Drew Doughty, Canada
Forward: Teemu Selanne, Finland
Forward: Phil Kessel, USA
Forward: Mikael Granlund, Finland
While the tourney directorate voted for:
Price as top goalie (I agree)
Karlsson as top D (disagree - he was great, but Doughty and Weber were better)
Kessel as top forward (a horrific decision. Selanne, Granlund, Toews, Carter, even Crosby all would have been better choices).
It's not always the amount of saves a goalie makes but when he makes them and the quality. Carey Price made very timely saves, and very difficult saves, I mean he just broke his career record for shut out streak, in the Olympics during the biggest games.
But sure, Lundqvist was better with his goals from the goal line and 40 foot wrist shots. As for Rask, he played very well especially considering he had the flu, but Price still beat him head to head in round robin and that should mean something.
How is it that Price was named goalie of the tournament, but Lundqvist was named to the Tournament all-star team? And how could Selanne be the MVP, but Kessel was named as top forward? And just how, straight up, could Kessel be named the top forward?
1. Because they're voted on by different people. The same way that Ovechkin won the Hart but Crosby won the Lindsay.
2. He won top forward because he was the top forward. Funny how you only mentioned that when that was the most obvious choice. You could at least argue for Lundqvist/Quick over Price or Doughty over Karlsson but Kessel was clearly the best forward. And people say there isn't an anti-Leafs bias?![]()
It's the main board. Where kids reunite to try to piss off Habs fans. And it's working. The day we'd stop bringing Habs related subjects, you'll see tons of kids not posting anymore. Would clean the air.

I love Carey Price but I think that the most inspirational performance at the games was from Kristers Gudlevskis, the Latvian goaltender. I know that the MVP always goes to a player on the team that wins gold and I do believe that Price deserves it in that situation. I just can't stop thinking that Kristers Gudlevskis was more valuable to his team than any other player in the tournament.

I agree with a lot of what you said but Carter and Crosby rightfully shouldn't have been in the discussion for best forward. Crosby was silent through the start of the tournament (hence trying every possible winger to try and get him going) and Carter had more notoriety for scoring a hat trick of mediocre goals against Austria than anything else.
