Eckholm, Walman, Stecher and Klingberg are all injured. That’s why Dineen is even up playing. Frankly I’d like to see less/none of him because it means the others are back healthy.
Agreed. Just saying that under the circumstances I’d rather see less of him so we’re not playing a 10-12 depth option, especially on the eve of the SCPlayoffs. At the end of the day, he played, and he played well. Nice to see the organization having depth and the 10th or 12th option can play and not look in over his head.
They won and skinner played well. About 80% of the board has nothing to talk about when that happens.

But we are where we are, so like you said, it good that he wasn’t drowning.
Where do you base that on? That’s a pretty hot take.I don't think most of our guys are quite as injured as they appear. It would have been smart money to leave some cap cushion at the deadline (which we did) in order to rest a few guys down the stretch (which we have).
IMO first in the division was likely out of reach a couple of weeks ago. LA and Colorado, yeah... still battling for home ice, but that's probably less of a consideration than simply having rested stars heading into a long playoffs where you will plenty of away games no matter who starts where.
I think rest is/was the right call.

My reply will be much shorter.Of course I'm not saying they aren't injured, this is a long, long season... they are all bound to be suffering legit lingering injuries... I'm saying they may not have been "miss three weeks each" injured if the season were still on the line. I think we are being very cautious with what injuries exist and extending rest periods such that:
1) They come back fully healed and rested, and
2) They have options for LTIR in case Kane forced their hand by coming back early.
I have no hard evidence of this, it's just my take based on:
All I'm saying is that the team is probably uber cautious about two things:
- All of McD ($$$), Drai ($$$), Nuge ($$), Hyman ($$), Walman ($$) are making enough that LTIR-ing any of them would allow them to activate Kane
- Media reports that Kane wanted to return as early as possible (but that would put us over the cap if it happened)
- Kane now skating with the team
- None of the above injuries or ailments appeared like much to the outside observer at the time
- The injuries have been rotating, for example McD comes back just as Drai goes off
- Each of the injuries occurring coincident with: a) Kane skating with the team and b) with sufficient time left in the season that LTIR could be used
- McD came back looking better than he has all year... so obviously that indicates they let him take his time recovering
1) Running out of gas as we did last year, and
2) An investigation into abusing/stretching Kane's LTIR...
Having guys rotate out of the lineup and rest properly effectively kills two birds with one stone, allowing them to rest up as well as always having an alternate guy who would qualify for LTIR should we need it (Kane's docs clear him early or NHL comes sniffing).
Or, its just bad luck... and all of our most expensive, most important for the playoffs guys, are all going down at once right at the end of the season when the standings are all locked up.

You have zero to base it on.
I figured so.
Buck, I have nothing to be sour about. That's a bit aggressive Brent. Don't be sour.
Corey Perry wearing a letter in blue and orange, imagine trying to convince anybody in Edmonton back in 2017 that this is not a photoshopped image.
If LA clinches home ice, because of the Lakers any chance we get a later start date?
Buck, I have nothing to be sour about.
I didn’t post a statement about the health of players that I couldn’t support. I asked you to however, and you said you can’t.
I simply responded after, that I wasn’t surprised you couldn’t support it with facts as it was really an “out there” statement.
That’s all.
I don’t know who this Gleeson is that you are referring to. I never spoke about anyone of that name in any of my posts. My original post was picking up on your concern that we are playing Gleeson at this late stage…
You are worried.
I am not… I didn’t state anything as fact. I just alluded to some load management and cap optionality that may be at play. If the game IS being played, this is what it would look like.
You called me out. I expanded… again not presenting anything as fact.
Other than Ekholm, I’m not worried about the health of our guys… I THINK/PROJECT/AND SUPPOSE that there isn’t that much to be worried about.
Clearer now? Or you just want me down there in the mire worrying with you based on the current facts? (Everyone knows they aren’t playing).
I don’t know who this Gleeson is that you are referring to. I never spoke about anyone of that name in any of my posts.
I stopped reading after that. I assume the rest of your alphabet wall was equally not making sense.
Yes, I am worried. I’m worried about you.
Yup. Sitting out these remaining 3 regular season games and the 10+ calendar days that some of them will have had to heal can do wonders to reduce or mend all sorts of injuries.Dineen. Gleason.. whatever… A minor slip, both insignificant AHL tweener defensemen.
Hey guess what! Sportsnet and multiple outlets now reporting that majority of our guys (except Ekholm) are back for game one…. Like I was saying “abundance of caution” and “precautionary” load management….
What a HUGE surprise!!!
