The organization's ability to kill my appreciation of some of my favorite former players is uncanny. Please keep Mark Howe, Pelle Eklund, Mikael Renberg, Shjon Podein, Sami Kapanen, Simon Gagne, and Kimmo Timonen away at all costs.

Guy played hard, above average PKer and decent checking forward. Shame his career ended they way it did.

Now, he might also be a great guy, but he was lousy coach both as an assistant and as an AHL head coach.

He did stuff. I’m sure all the professional hockey players he coached learned how to be a pro under his tutelage. Cause he said he’d do that. I’m sure they had to work hard at conditioning. He said he’d do that too. Great job guy.

Worst assistant coach in Flyers history if you use his one main responsibility (penalty-kill) as a barometer.

A complete dud as an AHL head coach. No indication he was able to meaningfully develop any prospects and the team achieved zero real success.

i remember he did a interview in europe somewere, thry asked him pointblank if he had any interest in returning as management/coaching staff..

he said something along the lines of not as long as the old bois culture remains...

I almost feel sorry for the fans of whatever team sees his coaching body of work and decides he's the one to lead them to the promised land.

IDK about Tortorella being paid going forward. A case could be made from what he said in Toronto that he quit and therefore was not fired. Since he quit he doesn't get paid the fourth year. For once his big mouth may have cost him.
From what I've heard and read, Lappy was offered a different position within the organization but declined to take it. If so, he's out the money for next year.
