According to Frank Seravalli and Daily Face Off:

Frank says that Carolina is the team to watch and big moves could be happening this week as they are needing to get the ball rolling on signing some of their UFAs.

Why? They need players and he’s still young

It makes no sense to give up quality assets for a 25 yr old 40-50 pt player who wants an 8 year deal above $8M per based on what appears to have been fluke 22-23 season

He certainly doesn't justify raise with his regression this past year

Oh and he yet again MIA in big moments for Canes

Because that poster knows its possible and wants something to complain about

Paying a 40-50 pt guy $8M+ for 8 years while giving away likely 1st + prospect in package is a poor move for any franchise let alone a team in rebuild

A 40-50 point guy? He just finished a 53 point season after a 71 point season, and played at a 63 point pace in the abbreviated 20-21 season.

I can understand not valuing him at 71 points like 22-23, but he's proven to be above 40-50. If any season in Necas's career is an outlier, it's the 21-22 season.

He's averaging 62 pts and 26 goals in the last 2 seasons while playing on the 2nd PP waves and on the 2nd line, I don't believe he's just a 40-50 pts player if you play him back on the 1st line + 1st PP like they did 2 years ago. If Boston find a way to get him, watch out ,he's going to post a minimum of 80 pts next year beside Pastrnak and Zacha.

I hope MTL is on him but I don't think we have what Carolina are looking for.

Necas did not regress. He lost his role on the 1st PP unit and his production in that game situation was cut in half as a result.

I'll argue that 23-24 was a growth year for him. In 22-23, he got hot early on a line with Svechnikov and faded as the year went on. This past season, he got hot mid-season and only slowed down once the experimenting with Kuznetsov started. In the sample of his return to injury to the game in which Drury got hurt, he had 19 points in 20 games as the undisputed driver on the line with aforementioned Drury and Bunting. Best stretch of his career under the circumstances.

He was one of their best players in the playoffs this year, if not their best IMO

I suppose.

I don't think he'll get that much though. But for 7 million i don't think he's a bad signing especially for a team that's fighting to hit the salary floor. He's got room to grow and could be a nice wingman for Bedard and eventually Demidov or whoever

thats what they get for scheduling the playoffs to potentially end late June. Teams can't wait that long
