If Canada wins against Finland and Sweden beats the US (Likely as the US can rest players because they're already guaranteed to make the finals, they have no incentive to win the game) - Marner's 'irrelevant' OT winner is the only reason Canada is going to the finals.

Matthews was pretty good defensively tonight. I laughed out loud when he had a chance at an ENG and shot it square into the Canada D-man 15 feet from the net though

I just don't understand why Mitch "Puck Over Glass" Marner does these things in BIG GAMES. Please help me understand.
...the OT winner isn't irrelevent...it's simply the only time Marner has done ANYTHING this Tournament...keep up, eh...

Okay. You can say that about 90% the team can't you?
MacKinnon's only point this tournament is a tap in on the PP from Crosby. Not a single player on Canada has more than 1 point 5v5, the majority 0.

Anyway, if Canada wins on Monday and Thursday, NONE of this will matter. I hope Marner scores the game winning goal in BOTH games.

Cooper is Marners biggest fan. Did you hear him speak about Marner after game 1? He loooves Marner, he can't praise him enough. But he's no Kucherov.
This is a put up or shut up league, there is no he pushes back defenses nonsense. He didn't score tn, he's not exempt from blame.

not a good sign that he can’t seem to find any space to make something happen until it’s 3 v 3. Really thought this year would be different with Berube. I guess we’ll find out in April

If I'm Treliving, I don't offer a new contract to Marner until after the playoffs and see if Marner finally figures out playoff hockey.

I think Marner would work well with Crosby actually. At his age Sid needs to play at a slower pace, but still have someone with good vision and offensive instincts. The third guy should be a banger with some skill like Stone or Marchand. Make that the third line and let McDavid and Mackinnon play high octane on their own lines.

What in the actual crap are you on about? Matthews was barely noticeable tonight. Marner has the same NHL PO production as Matthews in their careers.
