Post-Game Talk: I think this team might have some flaws

That's true. He seemed to be putting it together and then came back worse than ever. I'm sure the injuries were a factor.

I think they have a decent roster if they get a QB. Their pass defense is top 10 in the league.

They literally cannot move the ball. You're barely going to win any games like that.
Please move this discussion to the footie thread. Do I have to call on a mod?

The Knicks went 17-65 and Dolan pretty much gave Leon Rose carte blanche to clean up the previous administration's entire roster. They were rumored to be landing every piece under the sun, as they always are, and instead, Rose hoarded draft picks for years. They built their roster with zero high-profile UFA's not counting their own re-signings.

Dolan sucks for a variety of reasons but him allegedly meddling is just an excuse to paper over the Rangers' own incompetence, particuarly Gorton who nuked his own rebuild as soon as a couple of names became available.
I would tend to agree although the only difference is that the Knicks team wasn’t a few games from the Stanley cup the prior season.

I just think that would make Dolan less likely to want to be bad. Would be easier to swallow if the Rangers were shit record wise last year

He'll get the idea. They're going to be bad this year.

If they wind up missing so be it but they aren’t tanking. And billion dollar sports franchises don’t punt seasons because of a rough couple months leaving them 3 points out of a playoff spot. Gotta be aggressive.
They were 3 points out of a playoff spot when the Letter went out.

They aren’t gonna be good “any time soon” anyway. They have too many missing pieces. You can’t patchwork this team into a competitor.

You need multiple additional foundational pieces. Haven’t you learned that yet?

Rip the f***ing band aid off and just do it. It’s the quickest way to a competitor. Otherwise you are just wallpapering over problems and we will be a second round exit team behind good goaltending again.

They won 55 games last year. Sorry I don’t want to tear it down to the studs. Continue moving the guys who dont contribute to winning and the team will improve. Florida snuck into the playoffs on the last day of the season 2 years ago and went to the final. I swear some people just want to seethe and say I told you so instead of looking at the team objectively. Last time they had a stretch like this in a season was 90-91. They wound up making the playoffs.

Yeah how’d that turn out?

Its not like its unheard of for teams to achieve success despite major struggles mid season.

Florida like mentioned. LAK for their 1st cup. The Blues and even the Oilers last season.

2014 rangers had a goalie retire mid season because of an 8 goal game allowed and went to the finals. People really just come here to whine.

Poor Biron. His sacrifice was undone by the f***ing refs and Martinez.

Edit: Or was it Vally? I am always getting confused regarding The Kings squires.

I kind of agree with you, but I see another side of it.

I do like the young pieces we've compiled and getting rid of the vets will get a lot of stink off the team, and allow us to put together a new identity.

At the same time, watching this team without Panarin last night, holy f*** they have NOOOOO talent. Handing the keys to Cuylle and Chytil isn't going to be it. They need significant pieces coming in. Guys that will keep Cuylle and Chytil as role players. Probably a 1C and at least two top 4 defensemen.

Where is that coming from?

3 guys need to be removed/replaced

3 that are absolutely killing us
Yes, but it's not as simple as just moving them out.

Trading Trouba and putting different iterations of Boris Licksack didn't make the defense better.

Zibanejad still has 21 points. We need somebody who can do that while not sucking.

We're going to get smoked. I'll be at the COL game to watch us get smoked at the tail end of all the smoking.

I"ll be at the Utah game, smoke is in the forecast for that one too.

well they at least seemed like they weren't a total gongshow on defense all night long (against...Nashville). Shame about everything else

My biggest question is where is our structure?

Why do we always look lost?

Carolina just lost half their back end, and didnt miss a beat.

Why do our teams always have no structure and players always look lost. Is it bad coaching, poor listening, players not wanting to change? All of the above? I dont get it.

I truly dont get it. We never play at a higher level than we should. We play like sand and rocks are stuck in our gears.

We have alot of talent. We get the bare minimum out of it night in and night out. Where other teams get the most out of less.
