I Think its Time we Send Wang a Message

that would be a good way for her/him to get fired.

maybe this is a secret ( and diabolical ) plot to get the secretary fired?

Um, no?

There's a reason why some bosses have secretaries read their mail and take their calls. It's so they can have someone screen it for them. Bosses aren't interested in reading a letter that basically describes why they suck at their job.

Those who want their ideas inputted into the letter post below.

do you have any idea how many idiotic responses youre going to get?
"i want a coach that can pronounce the letter "R".....
"i want ticket prices cut in half...."
"i want the ice girl with the long blonde hair to spend the weekend at my house....."
"i want better french fries....."

but you asked for it. so you get to deal with it. and you will most likely do what wang does with most silly requests.......youll ignore them. just like your letter will be.

pick a different wind mill to tilt with don.

i know that.
if the secretary hands a hate filled letter to her boss, THATS A VERY GOOD WAY FOR THE SECRETARY TO GET FIRED!!!

Ohh, yeah, if the secretary's dumb enough to pass the letter along.

I thought you were saying the secretary would be fired for discarding mail addressed to their boss, when that's what they're supposed to do.

I'm putting a letter together. Should have something in the coming days.

Those who want their ideas inputted into the letter post below. At this point i can't sit and do nothing.

I know MR. Wang you could care less about hockey let alone the New York Islanders but their are plenty of faithful fans that do. Please sell the team a.s.a.p. so we can try to get a owner who cares about winning as much as you care about money. We know a response will most likely not come from you but we want to make sure at least you will be seeing this.

I have total contempt for anyone who wastes their money on a friggin' ad about a crappy owner of a hockey team. That's worse than Sean Penn style crankery. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea needs to grow up.

And to waste time on this? Silly. I can list a million more worthy causes from gun violence to mental health to cancer to getting people back in their homes (many still are not). Protests over a hockey team... Kay...

Let's assume, as is extraordinarily unlikely, your message gets through. All Wang has to say is, "I understand fan's frustration. But we are losing money as it is, and what fans are demanding is unrealistic." End of story.

If you just want pain, go get a root canal. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble.

Cheers,

Dan-o

i have contempt for your contempt. if someone wants to write a letter, let them write a letter. perhaps it could lead to social acitivism for future, different causes. just something to consider...

I said I have contempt for someone who would waste money on an advertisement, not writing a letter. I waste time on a message board, why would I have contempt for someone who wastes time on a letter?

I know plenty of activist types. (I'm more of a join-in activist type, but I've done my share of protesting. Most recently re gun control now that same-sex marriage is settled in NYS.) Not a one got their start being pissed off about a sports team. Their parents? Sure. Their church/temple? All the time. Their friends? Of course. Their identities or orientations? Yeah. Moral concerns that seem to come out of nowhere? Sometimes. Hockey? Err...

Cheers,

Dan-o

go whichever you will, then. i'll happen to look at these ideas by posters here as people baby stepping to their democratic right of social activism.

If you want to sit back and do nothing that is your right. If I want to write and letter and gain some additional signatures that is my right. If someone wants to drop 10-15K on an ad in Newsday that is their right.

I don't have 10-15K just sitting around, therefore I am going the letter route. Maybe Wang or Snow will see it, maybe they won't. Maybe it will be starter fuel for Wang's fireplace. At least I can say I did something, because to me doing nothing is no longer excusable.

I think the effort would be better spent encouraging fans to not buy any merchandise or attend games, and most importantly, encouraging STHs to cancel their seats.

They just signed an arena deal they can't get out of, so the team moving isn't a concern.

Words are cheap, speak with your wallet or it won't be heard.

This is NOT like the rangers, when we wanted sather out. Even if 1000 ranger fans quit spending money, there'd be plenty more to replace them to buy the seats. Every islander STH that cancels will not be replaced by someone else. Every ticket not bought will not be sold to someone else. The isles have the lowest attendance in the league:

http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance

Get that # low enough and you will be heard. Cheap words will be ignored.

maybe it just doesn't come through on TV. But it amazes me how you never hear a Wang Must Go, Snow Must go, Fire Cappy, etc. chant at the games.

I find it comical that only letter from a fan would be postmarked from Florida.

Epic.

This is a hockey team-in the grand scheme of things it's not very important. I understand people wanting to do something-or people doing this. But honestly it's a waste of time and effort. I wrote the Islanders a letter (ok an e-mail) YEARS ago-and I said if they didn't even give me a response-I'd never spend a nickel on merchandise with them again....I never even got a "thanks for your email!". Nothing.

Couple of reasons.

1. not enough people in the stands to overcome the noise of the players
2. 9-10 year olds don't have the discipline to work together.

and on a slightly more serious note.

Nobody even cares anymore. And THAT is the truth.

Apathetic is probably the best word to use to describe this fanbase.

That's pathetic. Almost every company replies to all emails (unless it's like a penis pill advertisement or something), even if it's just a form letter. Even most physical mail gets a letter sent back.. again, even if it's just a form letter. Most companies value their customers enough to spend the minimal cost it takes to respond to correspondence.

The fans who would actually do those chants probably don't attend the games. Which is the right thing to do. Having those seats empty sends a much bigger message to management then chants do. The chants just say "we hate you but we'll still give you money to sit here"

Funds is all we need. It's not that unrealistic to find out how much it costs, open a kick starter project and have everyone chip in and get it done. We all spent enough money on mr wang lets spend a little telling him how we feel.

I do web design I will volunteer to make a web site to advertise our kick starter campaign to take out add space In a major publication to get this done. All it takes is someone covering this to get momentum and hockey media outlets will cover it.

You love the team with all your heart and watch every game and yet leave empty handed (in terms of wins and a shot at a Stanley Cup).
Someone said this is sports and in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal..I disagree.
I am currently unemployed and i'm online/outside all day looking for work and this is my so called "stress release". If your competitive and care about something with all your heart i find nothing wrong with that. Homeland is right that he is sick of just talk no actions. I have like no food in my house but would try to get some money so i can help in putting a ad in Newsday. Why you might ask? because this is my love my hobby or whatever you want to call it and where i can't speak for Home i'm pretty sure he feels the same. Again i can't speak for all of us but so many die hard fans here and we all deserve better.

It is just a game-and it is just a professional sports team.

People just need to wake up and smell the roses...this team sucks-and it sucked before the "rebuild" and hasn't improved one bit (as a team). The franchise is in shambles and the only hope is Wang selling the team.

Trust me written messages to this team will get you NOTHING. You wont even hear back from them-as I said earlier I went that route years ago, and didn't even get a "thanks for being a fan"-I got NOTHING back. And anybody writing this letter wont either.

I would hate to see people waste their money on a Newsday ad-you guys really think that Wang hasn't heard what the fans have to say about him? Of course he has-he just doesn't care. He's the boss. It's HIS team. Period.

when we start averaging 2000 fans a game (and we will, we were definitely a lot close to 2000 fans than 9000 fans tonight) he will get the message

I agree with you but i'm not a "grin and bear it" type of guy. I just can no longer sit idly and do nothing. If even for my own peace of mind i would try to do anything/everything in my power to be heard and maybe from that i could have some closure if you will.

I love you for creating this thread.

You want to send a message? Send it with your wallet. Don't let Wang see a PENNY from you. We are NEVER winning a Cup with Wang as owner so I will take any and all risks to get him out.

I still don't understand why anyone puts themselves through the torture of going to an Isles game these days. I want to support the players, but I want wang out more. I'm done attending games until he is.

Apathetic is probably the best word to use to describe this fanbase.

And much of that is because of wang.

Imagine Mark Cuban became owner tomorrow. Then imagine what the fan base would feel a year from now.

If isles fans are the problem it's only because their giving Wang money when they should be boycotting. Wang doesn't spend money when we were going to games. Might as well not go then.
